After months of confusing legislative activity surrounding election law in Ohio, we now have clarity.

* Voting rules remain nearly the same as the last Presidential election with one exception: In-person absentee voting the last weekend before the election is no longer available. The deadline to register to vote is October 9. Remember, you must be registered to vote, and if your name or address has changed since you last voted, you must complete a voter registration form.

Register to vote and vote in-person at the same time from October 2-9 at your Local Board of Elections (BOE).

Vote by mail starting October 2. Request an absentee ballot from your Local Board of Elections. Ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 5 or delivered in person to your local BOE by 7:30 pm on Nov 6.

Vote early in-person from October 2 through November 2. Check with your Local Board of Elections for hours and locations.

Vote in-person on Election Day on Tuesday, November 6, from

6:30 am - 7:30 pm Contact your local BOE for your neighborhood voting location. ID Requirements: Voter ID varies depending on how you vote. If you vote in- person absentee or by mail, a driver's license number, a state ID number or the last four digits of your social security number are acceptable. On Election Day, you must present a drivers license, a state ID, or a copy of one of the following that shows your current address: utility bill, bank statement, pay stub, government check, or government document.
*HB 194, which contained many election law changes, was repealed, while a separate bill containing photo ID requirements did not pass. HB 224 resulted in the closure of weekend-before-election voting.
