Advertisement No. 5/2012 Applications are invited for the following posts for the India-Based Neutrino Observatory (INO) project. The selected candidates will be posted at the INO project sites located near Madurai, Tamilnadu. However, they will be required to work for prolonged periods of time at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research/Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai. 1. ENGINEER [CIVIL] [PROJECT] : One Post [Unreserved] ; Consolidated Pay : Rs.41,500/(all inclusive). Qualification : B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering with minimum 60% marks. Experience : 1 2 years experience in project execution work in the field of civil structures and related services should be well conversant with quality control methods, planning and quantity survey. Experience in Tunneling and computer use will be added advantage. Job Requirement : Planning, design, tendering and execution of various civil jobs concerning construction of INO facilities at Madurai and Pottipurum (Theni district). Age : Below 28 years.

2. ENGINEER [MECHANICAL] [PROJECT] : One Post [Unreserved] ; Consolidated Pay : Rs.41,500/- (all inclusive). Qualification : B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with minimum 60% marks. Experience : 1 2 years experience in design and fabrication of large mechanical structures. Job Requirement : The selected candidate is expected to study and design various mechanical elements and structures related to the 50kton electromagnet for the ICAL detector. Design, material procurement and fabrication of laboratory infrastructure at Madurai and Mumbai will be the other requirement. Working knowledge in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and finite element methods packages will be highly desirable. Age : Below 28 years.

3. ENGINEER [ELECTRICAL] [PROJECT] : One Post [Unreserved] ; Consolidated Pay : Rs.41,500/- (all inclusive). Qualification : B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering with minimum 60% marks. Experience : 1 2 years experience in designing, fabricating large electrical systems. Job Requirement : The selected candidate is expected to study and design various electrical elements and systems related to the 50kton electromagnet, such as coil, its cooling system etc. Design, material procurement and fabrication of laboratory equipment at Madurai and Mumbai will be the other requirement. Knowledge on large electromagnets, their cooling techniques, field calculations and measurement techniques will be desirable. Age : Below 28 years.

4. SCIENTIFIC OFFICER [PROJECT] : Three Posts [1-Unreserved, 1-Other Backward Class and 1-Scheduled Caste] ; Consolidated Pay : Rs.41,500/- (all inclusive). Qualification : B.E./B.Tech. in Electronics/Instrumentation or equivalent with minimum 60% marks. Experience : 1 2 years experience in designing and debugging of analog, digital and VLSI circuits. Job Requirement : The selected candidates are expected to study, design and debug low noise analog circuits, high speed digital and VLSI systems. Experience in hardware description languages, designing using CPLD and FPGAs will be essential requirements. Knowledge about working of particle detectors and their characteristics will be desirable. Age : Below 28 years for unreserved candidates ; below 31 years for Other Backward Class candidates and below 33 years for Scheduled Caste candidates.

5. SCIENTIFIC OFFICER [PROJECT] : Two Posts [Unreserved] ; Consolidated Pay : Rs.34,000/- (all inclusive). Qualification : M.Sc. in Physics with minimum 60% marks. Desirable Experience : Thorough knowledge in nuclear physics, high energy physics and

particle detectors. Job Requirement : The selected candidates are expected to develop and characterise modern particle detectors. Analysis of experimental data using ROOT and other packages, proficiency in C++ programming language, detector simulation and physics analysis will be other responsibilities. Age : Below 28 years.

6. SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANT [PROJECT] : One Post [Unreserved] ; Consolidated Pay : Rs.26,000/- (all inclusive). Qualification : S.S.C./H.S.C. and Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent with minimum 60% marks. (ii) Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications. Experience : 0-2 years experience in project execution work in the field of civil structures and related services should be well conversant with quality control methods, planning and quantity survey. Experience in Tunneling and computer use will be added advantage. Job Requirement : The selected candidate is expected to assist the civil engineers in preparation of design drawings, preparation of specifications and tender documents etc., besides field supervision and reporting on various civil jobs. Age : Below 28 years.

Candidates are liable to be transferred to other Centres/Field Stations of the Institute, if required. General Information : The appointments will be renewed each year up to a total period of 3 years. Prescribed age should not exceed as on July 1, 2012.
