FOREIGN COUNTRY STUDY REPORT (FCSR) GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS

(MBA Semester - III 2012) (1st July 2012 16th August 2012 7 Weeks)
A. GENERAL PROJECT GUIDELINES: The students will undergo FOREIGN COUNTRY STUDY PROJECT for seven weeks after the completion of the Second Semester and submit a Foreign Country Study by 16th August 2012. This project needs to carry out by the group of 2 students. Individual project is not allowed. After deciding the group, they need to select a country and needs to confirm the same from project coordinators. Under this project even student can go & visit foreign (selected) country and complete his/her project over there. Once country is selected, students need to select the Sector or Industry and even a Company or an Organization of their choice for this project work. Once Sector or Industry and Company or Organization is finalized, do update the same to the undersigned along with the following details; Country name Sector or Industry Company or Organization name ONLY HARDCOPY SUBMISSION WILL BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATIONS. Student need to carry out the project under faculty mentors guidance. Timely reporting and following guidelines of mentor is absolutely necessary. Student must keep records of DAILY activities in log book and should be shown to the mentor at every meeting. Students must submit Progress to the Mentor every week. Students will be assessed on the basis of the quality of work done, dedication and sincerity during the entire project period. No two groups of students can have exactly the same objectives for same sector. Students project report must have own contribution and must be approved by their mentor as original work. While reporting to mentor at college student must be in Uniform. All the correspondence would be made on mails, at the institutes mail id. Student will be required to give presentation in front of panel members as final evaluation. Students must ensure to follow the deadlines without fail. 1

For any queries / clarifications, students may contact their respective mentor. CONTENT GUIDELINES: Each Group should prepare one detailed report.

Part 1:- COUNTRY STUDY:


Country Introduction. Demographic Profile. General Economic & Industries overviews. Overview Different economic sectors of selected country. General overview of Trade and Commerce. Present Trade Relations with India / Gujarat. Legal aspects of trade in selected country. Import- Export, Business Volume of different products, Investment etc. PESTEL Analysis. Selected Sector / Industry /Company Analysis. SWOT Analysis of selected company / industry.

Part-2: INDUSTRY / SECTOR STUDY:


Analysis of particular industry/sector/company of selected country. Structure, Functions and Business Activities of selected Industry. Policies and Norms of selected country for selected Industry/company for import / export including licensing /permission, taxation etc. Policies and Norms of India for Import or export to the selected country including licensing / permission, taxation etc. Present relationship with Indian trade and commerce. Present Trade barriers for that country and Industry. Investment, import-export. Identification of possibilities/ new opportunities of business (trade, manufacturing, import, export, investment etc) with that country. Potential for import / export in India / Gujarat Market. Business Opportunities in future. Problems & Prospects of business/trade with the selected country. Findings / conclusions of the Study. Strategic Suggestions for Trade and Commerce by / in India or Gujarat.

Bibliography
Students need to quote all the references. Also the way of presenting them in form of Bibliography is should not be inconsistent & erroneous. This year we propose to use only APA style of referencing. Format of APA style for various sources like books, papers, articles, websites, and many more can get from

B. EVALUATION GUIDELINES: The Report will be evaluated by a panel consisting of one Internal Supervisor and one external referee which will be graded as Satisfactory, or Incomplete/Not Satisfactory. All those students whose Summer Project Reports are graded as Incomplete/Not Satisfactory, shall have to repeat the Training for a period suggested by the panel and re-submit the same for evaluation. Students overall behavior and discipline will be a qualitative criteria for evaluation.

PRESENTATION 1: Presentation 1 will be evaluated on the basis of Content and Understanding, overall Analysis, Communication and Presentation Skills including format of PPT, Time management and Query Solving ability. PRESENTATION 2: Presentation 2 will be evaluated on the basis of Incorporation of suggestions, Presentation skills and viva.
