Name: Student A (SA) School: Sam Spaght Elentary Magnet Examiner: Elizabeth Bostic Date of Report: April 29,

2006 Age:8 Grade: 3rd grade, 8th month Date of Testing: 3/16/06 Sex: Female General Background of Student A Home and Family: Student A, ( from now on referred to as SA1) lives with both parents in Wichita, Kansas. SA1 also lives with her younger brother which she says in elemtary school as well. SA1 indicated in her inventory that although she does feel loved she does not really feel that she gets the same amount of attention that her brother does. She seems to enjoy reading more for the escape and the relaxation that it gives her. SA! Also indicated that she definitely loves her family she just seems to exhibit many qualities of any child that has been the center of attention until a younger sibling was born. SA1 seems only to be displaying classic feelings of sibling rivalry. Health History: From talking both to the student as well as her aunt I did not hear of any major helath problems. She does have low grade asthma but the aunt said the doctoe said that she will probably grow out the disease making it acute. Education: SA1 has attended Spaght Elemntary Magnet since kindergarten. The biggest change in her educational career occurred in 1st grade when because of previously low test scores the school was but on the watch list according to No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The school then did a major overhaul in curriculum, adding magnet to their title- allowing them to becom more of a neighborhood school as they were no longer forced into the bussing regime- completely changing the cultural dynamic of school- making it 83-85% African American with in one year. Diagnostic Test Results and Interpretations This test was administered March 16, 2006 along with the other reading examinations. SA1 got 100% of the Dolch sight words easily without reversals or omissions. Cloze Reading Test Concerning the cloze reading test I decided to utilize pre-fabricated test that the students accessed via the internet in the testing room. Taking the test this way allowed the

students to feel more comfortable as I was informed that they often do their practice tests on the internet. The sites that I used for them to take the tests, which also graded them were the following: 3rd graders http://www.comsewogue.k12.ny.us/%7Essilverman/autumn/cloze/cloze1.htm 5th grader http://www.mrnussbaum.com/uscloze.htm Although SA1 had taken a cloze procedure test before the test was obviously more difficult than the other tests.
