At the end of the lesson, students are expected to: - Distinguish elements of strategic capability in organizations: resources, competences, core competences, and dynamic capabilities - Recognize the role of continual improvement in cost efficiency as a strategic capability - Analyze how strategic capabilities might provide sustainable competitive advantage on the basis of their value, rarity, inimitability, and non-substitutability - Diagnose strategic capability by means of value chain analysis, benchmarking, and SWOT analysis - Consider how managers can develop strategic capabilities of organizations

1. The professor will upload the module (in PowerPoint) to the Yahoo Group
account created for the Strategic Management class.

2. The professor will send the lecture notes/module in word file via

individual e-mail accounts of students. (Students e-mail addresses to be provided by CGS) 3. The students are given a day to read and understand the module and require them to answer a self-test (pre-test) and exercise set prior to the moderated discussion the following day; one question or problem for a specific topic of the module. 4. Each student may transmit in advance thru e-mail at least one (1) question (query) per topic included in the module. Day 2: Moderated Discussion

The students will now submit to the professor on or before the schedule/time listed hereunder the answers/solutions to the pre-test (self-test) and exercise set. 2. The students will be required to go online following the schedule/time as listed to discuss/answer all queries raised regarding the topic/module. 3. A uniform set of questions (regarding the topic) will be administered whereby the students will be required to transmit their answers via e-mail to the professors email address at a specified time of the day.
