IP Connection
If a Layer 3 test is going to be performed, you must first go to IP in the Home menu and establish an IP connection. If a Layer 2 test is to be performed, it is recommended that an IP connection also be established to send loop up/loop down commands to a remote unit. To establish an IP connection, from the IP menu, configure the connection for static or DHCP. If static, configure the Local IP, Subnet, and Gateway IP addresses. Configure a DNS server and VLAN tag if applicable.

Use the assigned Local IP address for the Local/Source IP address in the Throughput IP header setup.

When configuration is complete, press . . If the connection is successful, the IP address, Gateway, and other fields will be populated and the Connect button will toggle to Disconnect.

10/100/1000Base-T, 1000Base-X, or 10GE XFP Interface

1. Connect to the test interface using the following: CAT 5/5E/6 cable to connect to a 10/100/1000Base-T interface Multimode fiber patch cord to connect to a 1000Base-SX or 10GE 850 nm interface Single-mode fiber patch cord to connect to a 1000BaseLX or 10GE 1310 nm interface 2. Power on the unit 3. From the Home menu, tap on the Test Pori button 4. Select the test port interface from the window

Select the test interface from the selections in the window and press OK. It will take a few seconds to apply.

10. If the test will be performed with the far end unit in loopback mode, go to Step 11. If both units will generate/analyze traffic, go to Step 12. 11. Configure the control commands to loop up User must manually send the Loop Up command before the start of the test and manually send a and loop down the Loop Down command after the test has ended. far end test partner (another TX300) Enter the MAC and IP address. These are the local MAC and IP addresses of the far end unit.
Note: If the far end test partner is already in loopback mode (preconfigured locally at the far end), do not send the loop up/loop down commands.

12. Configure the Header tabs per stream; Select the Test Layer, Frame Type, and VLAN tag if applicable. Note: All
streams will be configured for the same test layer.

13. Configure the MAC address (for Layer 2), IP address (for Layer 3), and IP header, VLAN tag, and test pattern. To configure the MAC, IP header fields, and VLAN tag per stream, select from the Stream# pull down menu

Tap the frame format graphic to access the configuration screens

Note: If the test is being performed with both units generating/ analyzing traffic, match the configuration settings for each stream. For example, MAC/IP Source (TX300#1) = MAC/IP Destination (TX300#2)

14. Select the DATA test pattern and RX Filter settings If doing back-to-back testing with a second unit at the far end in BERT mode, select the same test pattern on both units. Enable the RX Filters for the MAC (Layer 2), VLAN, and IP (Layer 3) addresses

Data Tab: Select test pattern.

RX Filter Tab: Enabling the filters applies the Header settings to the received traffic. If the header settings of the incoming traffic match the configured settings on the local unit, the traffic is considered test traffic, otherwise it is considered nontest traffic.
