Overview:
Students are assigned a research paper/oral presentation on a scientist and encouraged to dress as that scientist for the presentation.

Retrofit Plan (page 4-7 of this document):

Below is a reconfigured plan, utilizing technology, best practices and NYS standards as a means of upgrading traditional student work to PBL-21st c. strategies.

Using your own words, bullet the factors about your work OUTCOMES that correspond to your rating.

In addition to exhibiting level 3 performance, the students responses demonstrate indepth inferences and applications that go beyond what was taught in class and/or through class assignments/activities. The students responses demonstrate no major errors or omissions regarding any of the information and/or processes (THAT WERE EXPLICITLY TAUGHT). The amount of work I have done to complete the assignment is great, however, all the elements may or may not be present, based on my interpretation. I have included the original lesson, the new lesson, links to assist with the new lesson, a link to an online quiz (on wiki page) a Voki demonstration (on wiki page) and this rubric.

The students responses indicate major errors or omissions regarding the more complex ideas and processes; however, they do not indicate major errors or omissions relative to the simpler details and processes.

Gibbons 3 1 The student provides responses that indicate a distinct lack of understanding of the knowledge. However, with help, the student demonstrates partial understanding of some of the knowledge.

The student provides little or no response. Even with help, the student does not exhibit a partial understanding of the material.
