PASTORAL MINISTERS

Traces of Grace
Dear Fellow Parishioners; I have good news for you! Fr. Loc has successfully (and safely!) moved all the way to St. Timothy's in Laguna Niguel. He is excited about his new assignment and according to his pastor, Msgr. John Urell, he is already engaged in the parish speaking with his best "Irish" accent! We wish him the best as he takes on new opportunities for ministry at St. Timothy's. More good news is that Fredy Mancilla, our seminarian intern this past year is now DEACON Fredy Mancilla. On Saturday, July 14 at Holy Family Cathedral, along with another candidate, he was ordained to the Transitional Diaconate. In late August, Fredy will be returning to Mt. Angel Seminary in Oregon to finish his last year of study and we hope will be ordained as priest in June, 2013 for our Diocese. Maybe he will replace Fr. Mario????? Fr. Mel Long has also returned to join us for some time this summer to assist while some of us are gone on vacation. He has been a regular face for the past several years with us. Please welcome him to our community. We are glad to have him back! Finally, Fr. Achilles, a wonderful priest who has been helping us for the past month will be returning to his ministry in Uganda in a couple of weeks. As you know, Uganda is a poor, but developing country. As he has done in the past with permission when Fr. Achilles joins us for a time during the summer, he appeals to us to help him with funding various projects in his country. As you may recall, with our assistance, Father has been able to establish a medical clinic near his home village. It is named "St. Edward the Confessor Health Clinic" in honor of the assistance we have given him. Medical care that we take for granted in our health care system simply does not exist in many places in Uganda. Your assistance allows the clinic to have health personnel to treat pregnant mothers and teach them how to raise their infants in healthier ways. Our financial support allows them to teach the young about AIDS and preventive measures. Next weekend, Fr. Achilles will be explaining in more detail what the needs are at the clinic. Please be as generous as you can as you have been in the past. Your gift touches and protects the lives of those far beyond our borders. May your gift allow others to be the healing hands of Christ. Together in Christ;

We would like our entire parish family to participate in this special St. Edward the Confessor and San Felipe de Jesus 2012 Parish Pictorial Directory. Our last directory, produced 9 years ago, has been a valuable community-building tool that assists both parishioners and staff in learning about and serving our faith-filled community. Whether you are single, a couple, or a family, we hope you will participate in this parish activity. The directory will include the photos and names of those who have their photos taken. Phone numbers will only be included for those participants who opt in to include their phone numbers. In addition to photos of parishioners, the directory will also include photos of parish and ministries activities.
