ARTS UNIT I Lesson I-2 Art Appreciation Modern art is characterized by contemporary styles of visual art.

. It rejects traditionally accepted or sanctioned forms and emphasizes individual experimentation and sensibility. It is the result of various social factors at the turn of century that saw the marked advancement of science and technology. E.g. photography, painting. Art- it may refer to any person, object, scene or event . It involved in most of the objects we see and hear, having a purpose as well as expression; it occupies some place in our judgment. It expresses beauty. Purposes: 1. Moral 2. Educational 3. Social 4. Cultural 5. Religion Activity 1. My Art Folio Materials: Old magazines Art papers Pair of scissors Paste or glue What to do: 1. Students should have their respective art folio. This is where they could place all their artworks. In order to make an art folio, you need to get an old magazine. Design the front and back covers, then, cover it with plastic. 2. For the inside pages, cut the desired color of the art paper into pieces and paste them on the corners of each page. You can also create a design of your own. Lesson 3-4 Value of the Arts Art is a record of mans experiences and aspirations. The humanities deal with mans internal world, his personallity, and experiences. The approach of humanities is subjective, it makes use of: 1. Perception 2. Feeling 3. Intuition 4. Insight

Activity 2. Card Making Materials: 1. Oslo paper 2. Crayon 3. Craypas 4. Watercolor 5. Pencil What to do: 1. All you have to do is to get an oslo paper, draw your design and color it. 2. You may write your dedication inside. It can be a poem or a prayer or inspirational quotes.

Activity 3. Fanciful Bookmarks Materials: 1. Oslo paper 2. Used folder 3. Crayons 4. Craypas 5. Pentel pen 6. Watercolor 7. Ruler, pencil 8. Pair of scissors, colored strings or yarn What to do: 1. Cut your oslo paper or your short folder measuring 2x6 in size 2. Sketh the design 3. Color your design 4. Punch a small hole on top, insert and tie a string or yarn

Lesson 5-6 The Enjoyment of Art Art Museum- is a natural place to start learning more about visual art, but many people find it difficult to sustain interest when interest when faced with so many objects by so many artists. E.g. Portraits, landscapes, still life Decorative art- furnishes or embellishes the spaces in which we live, or adorn our bodies. E.g. textile or furniture design, metal work, glass, ceramics and fashion design. Audio-video, film, digital art- commonly see the same forms in advertising and entertainment.
