2.SYSTEMDESCRIPTION

i.SolarPVGridConnectedSystem

A grid connectedsystem is connectedto a large independentgrid (typically the public electricity grid) and feeds power intothegrid. This isaform of decentralized electricity generation. In the case of residential or building mounted grid connected PV systems, the electricity demand of the building is met by the PV system. Only the excess is fed into the grid when there is an excess. The feeding of electricity into the grid requires the transformationof DCintoACbyaspecial, gridcontrolled inverter.

Agridtie inverter or a(GTI) isaspecial type of Inverter (electrical) that is used inarenewable energypowersystem to convertdirect currentinto alternatingcurrentand feed it into the utility grid. The technicalname for a gridtie inverteris "gridinteractive inverter". They may also be called synchronous inverters. Gridinteractive inverters typically cannot be used in standalone applications whereutilitypower isnotavailable. TheDeltaGridTieSolar Inverter isdesigned toconvert solar electric (photovoltaic orPV)power

into utilitygrade electricity that can beused by the home or sold tothe local power company. In orderto operate, the invertermusthavegrid poweravailableand connected. It will not provide backup power if the AC grid fails. The inverter will automaticallysynchronize itself to grid.Theinverter isprovidedwiththeisolationtransformer internally with basic insulation.

SolarPVModules:
Solar cells produce direct current electricity from light, which can be used to power equipment or to recharge abattery. Cells require protection from theenvironmentandare usually packagedtightlybehinda glasssheet.Whenmorepoweris requiredthan a singlecell can deliver, cells are electrically connected together to form photovoltaic modules, or solar panels. Aphotovoltaic moduleisapackaged interconnected assembly ofphotovoltaic cells, which converts sunlight into electrical power. The cells arehermiticallysealed between glass and back cover (Tedlar)toprotectthemfromharshenvironments. Thedetailtechnical specifications ofbothtypesofmodules areprovided below.

DeltaGridConnectInverter:

The 5 kW Delta Grid Tie Solar InvertersSolivia 5.0 is being used in this project to convert DC

power intoACandalsotoexportthegenerated powerintopublicgrid.

TheDelta GridTieSolar Inverter isdesigned toconvert solar electric (photovoltaic orPV) power into utilitygrade electricity that can be used by the home or sold tothe local power company. In orderto operate, the invertermusthavegrid poweravailableand connected. It will not provide backup power if the AC grid fails. The inverter will automatically synchronize itself to grid. The inverteris providedwith the isolationtransformer internallywith basic insulation. Theoutput oftheinverter willbesinglephase230V&with50Hzfrequency.

The solar inverter from Delta has a peak efficiency of 96.0%, soitrightfully occupies first place among inverters withtransformer. Theelegant andcompact design ofthe casing andlow noise characteristicsofthe Solivia 5.0 makes these solar inverters from Delta look goodeveninliving areas.
