Rob Snyder
Chairman & Co-Founder, Stream Energy

Really!

In 2004, energy deregulation was already a few years old in Texas but consumer switching activity had been minimal. Customers didnt fully grasp how easy and safeguarded was the process to shop for a new electric provider. They wanted to be assured and informed before switching this life-essential service. In this environment, Rob Snyder had a simple epiphany that would literally transform the national deregulated energy landscape: compensate people for explaining electricity switching to those they know and love. Thus, Stream Energy and Ignite (its wholly owned marketing subsidiary) were born. Officially launched in early 2005, Stream Energy surpassed all projections and in six short years has become a multi-billion dollar revenue machine serving retail customers in four states. Ignite and Stream Energy have been at the forefront of what has become a ground-breaking movement of energy network marketing companies, generating a number of imitators in the marketplace. Since Stream Energy secured its Texas retail electric provider license, the privately held company has become the largest network marketer of energy in the world and one of the fastest-growing companies in American business history. The company expanded from an initial Texas operational base into the Georgia natural gas market during 2008; the Pennsylvania electricity market in 2010; and the Maryland electricity market during 2011. For 2010, the Ignite network marketing subsidiary of Stream Energy was designated the 14th largest network marketing firm in the world and the only company in the top 15 rankings to serve only U.S. customers. Moreover, Stream Energy has won an array of accolades, including the Ernst & Youngs Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Southwest Region and Awards of Excellence from the prestigious Platts Global Energy Awards.
