Natural gas has been the preferred feedstock for the manufacture of urea over other feedstock viz. naphtha & FO/LSHS because it is clean and cheap compared to other methods of urea manufacture. 2. The Indian government through its pricing policy dated Jan-2004, directed the fertilizer production by use of natural gas and promotes the capacity increase of fertilizer companies through debottlenecking/revamp/modernization.
