BP has been investing in Vietnam since 1989 and is represented in the upstream by BP Exploration and in the downstream by BP Oil, BP Solar, Air BP and BP Chemicals. In late 1992, BP embarked on an exploration program in the Nam Con Son Basin, located some 370 km offshore Vietnam. This resulted in the discovery of the Lan Tay and Lan Do gas fields located in licensed Block 06.1. Later, BP discovered further reserves in Blocks 5.2 and 5.3 namely Hai Thach, Moc Tinh, Kim Cuong Tay fields. Since then BP, PetroVietnam (PV) and other foreign partners have worked together in the USD 1.3 billion Nam Con Son Gas Project to successfully develop the gas reserves in Block 06.1. As the gas lies offshore, a 400 km pipeline is constructed to transport the gas to the Phu My Power Complex located south east of Ho Chi Minh City - the largest thermal power development in Vietnam. A gas terminal has also been built at Dinh Co, Ba Ria Vung Tau Province to process the gas before it is dispatched to the power plants. First gas is expected by the end of 2002. BP Oil is actively investing in Vietnam through a joint venture agreement with Petrolimex called BP Petco Ltd. BP Petco has built and operates a 50.000 ton/year grease and lubricant blending plant and has a growing share of the Vietnamese lubricants market. Additionally, BP

Hot ng ca Tng Cng ty Du kh Vit Nam c thnh lp ngy 3 thng 9 nm 1975, Tng Cng ty Du kh Vit Nam l Tng Cng ty Du kh Quc gia, trc thuc Th tng Chnh ph, hot ng trong tt c cc lnh vc t tm kim, thm d, khai thc, xut nhp khu du th v cc vt t, thit b du kh n vn chuyn tng tr, cung cp dch v, ch bin v phn phi sn phm du kh. Tnh n nay, Tng Cng ty Du kh Vit Nam khai thc c hn 100 triu tn du th v kh ng hnh t cc m thuc thm lc a Vit Nam, gp phn quan trng tng phn thu ngoi t cho ngn sch Nh nc. Mc tiu chin lc ca ngnh Du kh Vit Nam l tr thnh tp on kinh t mnh ngang tm vi cc Cng ty du kh trong khu vc v c nng lc cnh tranh trn th trng quc t. Tng Cng ty Du kh Vit Nam ang n lc phn u vt qua nhng th thch, kh khn t c nhng thnh tu to ln hn na. Hp tc quc t Vi hng lot cc n ln trong khun kh chng trnh pht trin chin lc ca ngnh cho n nm 2005 v 2010, Tng Cng ty Du kh Vit Nam mong mun m rng hn na s hp tc vi cc Cng ty du kh nc ngoi, a dng ho cc hnh thc u t v nng cao hiu qu hp tc, u t vi cc i tc trong v ngoi nc.
