I have been noticing that an increasing number of documents have had their formatting changed when being converted

to HTML5. This is especially troubling when the document is a poem whose meaning may partially depend on the formatting. There is a fix that will work until SCRIBD fixes this problem.

Help, SCRIBD Has Destroyed My Formatting!

Occasionally you might notice that your Document's formatting has been has been destroyed by the conversion to HTML5 after you have uploaded it. Don't Panic! as Douglas Adams was wont to say. There is a tried method for fixing this problem by following the following steps: 1) Contact the SCRIBD Support Desk, by clicking the support link on the bottom of the page, and explain to them, nicely, that the formatting of your document has been changed when being converted to HTML5, asking them nicely if there is a way to correct this.

2) Obtain a way to convert your document to a PDF; free solutions are available for converting a document to the PDF format, for instance you can Google PDF Printer to find a virtual printer to install on your computer that will output a PDF Document instead of a Printed Page, you can go to OpenOffice.org (this is a hot link) to download and install the latest version of Apache OpenOffice OpenOffice is a free Office Suite that will probably open your original document and allow you to save it as a PDF or you can upload your document to Google Docs and download it as a PDF. 3) While waiting, patiently, for SCRIBD to find a solution, upload a Revision of the Document in PDF format the problem will not be solved by uploading a revision in the same format as the original upload. (This is also useful if you use unusual fonts as the fonts you used will be uploaded with the PDF.) I hope this is helpful!
