Yarn made from a poly cotton blend combines the strengths of the two fibers. Poly cotton garments are breathable, tear-resistant, and can be fashioned into abrasionresistant fabrics, like canvas. Its not also as costly as 100% cotton and also not as inexpensive as pure polyester. It provides much more comfort.
Moisture regain calculation of cotton-polyester blend:Q. What will be the moisture regain of 60/40 cotton polyester blend fabric? Moisture regain of cotton = 8.3% Moisture regain of Polyester = 0.4% The moisture regain of c/p blend (60/40) will be = (8.3 * 60 + 0.4 * 40)/(60+40) = 5.19%
More the moisture regain the breathability if the fabric will be more, so it will be
more comfortable to wear in summer. But if the moisture regain is less then it will be friendlier for monsoons as its absorbency is less & it takes less time to dry.
The 65/35 blend of cotton and polyester is the most popular for work garments, particularly because of price, durability and a larger color selection being available for purchase. When shopping for work garments, the choice between 100% cotton and poly cotton blends depends largely on the work environment and personal preference. If employees work indoors around machinery, the tear-resistance of poly cotton may be favorable. If the work is in an outdoor setting, particularly in hot climates, 100% cotton fabric could be the better choice. Before deciding, make sure to take all environmental factors into consideration.
