THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

Last week we dealt with the topic of Jesus being fully God and fully human. Today we are answering questions regarding baptism. In the upcoming weeks of our current Q & A series, we will discuss the following topics: August 5- Q & A about Repentance; August 12- Q & A about Heaven; August 19- Q & A about Hell & Satan; August 26- Q & A about the Holy Spirit. If there is a question that you have about any of the above mentioned topics, please write it down on the back of your silent roll call card and place it in the offering plate when passed. I will do my best to include your questions as I formulate this sermon series. Thank you for your assistance. As we look forward to the Fall, I pray that many of you will look for ways to serve and grow in your faith. In the upcoming weeks, you will hear more information about our Small groups which will help fulfill your quest for spiritual growth. You will also hear more about outreach opportunities to help you grow in service to the Lord. We do hope youll take advantage of what the Lord affords you here at Fifth Avenue. Have a great week in the Lord! In His Service, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

KEENAGERS to BIBLEWALK: On Wednesday, August 22, we journey to Mansfield, Ohio to visit the BibleWalk display at the Diamond Hill Cathedral. This is an inspirational presentation of the Bible in a life size wax museum. Our departure time is 8:00 am. The cost for travel and admission will be $10 per person. Arrangements for lunch are pending. A sign-up sheet is posted. NEW HORIZONS RETREAT: We have attended this senior gathering for the past several years and have always found it excellent. It is hosted by the North Terrace Church of Christ in Zanesville. The date is Tuesday, September 11. Registration, for this gathering, is $20, if submitted by August 14. The registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Our departure time is 7:30 am and our return, approximately, mid-afternoon. A sign-up sheet is now posted. Complete a registration form and give it to me, along with your registration fee. Do this early, as registrations are limited. WEDNESDAYS: Study groups will return in September.
SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY:

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
The most effective outreach has always been relational. When Jesus called the disciples, it wasnt to a church gathering, it was to walk and talk and share in His life and ministry. If we have friends and family, coworkers and other people with whom are lives are already entwined, who know us and respect us and have seen Christ make a difference in our lives, these people are the most likely to take us seriously when we share Jesus. Advertising service times and sending out mailers will let Christians looking for a new church know where we are, but the commission Christ gave was to make disciples not just shuffle sheep. When we engage believers and nonbelievers alike in our Christ centered lives we can truly become salt and light, seasoning the world around us to His glory. Lord help us see the lost as you see them and help them to see you as we see you. In Him, Scott

This week (7/29), we will conclude our Pondering the Proverbs series. The final message, in this series, will be Is Happiness Just A Word? (Proverbs 16:20). I encourage that you participate in the special Three Nights of Revival and the annual Sunday School picnic, in August. Sunday Evenings in the Sanctuary will return in September.
FINAL THOUGHT: Children may close their ears to advice but they keep their eyes open to example.

Q & A about Baptism

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Sermon Notes ________________________

________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ _______________________________________ ________________________________________ ________

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on ________________________________________ all issues. We believe that Gods Word is __ clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).

OUR PURPOSE WE EXIST TO

Exalt Gods Greatness; Evangelize Gods Work Equip Gods People Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ
