Lexmark SAP Bar Code Unit Test

You have acquired a Lexmark printer, installed the Bar Code Option, and want to print bar codes from SAP. How do you do it? How do you prove that SAP and the printer work together? This document describes a modification made to the original SAPSCRIPT-BARCODETEST standard text file shipped on every SAP system, which is called ZLX_BARCODETEST. When you install this Standard Text file on your system, along with the associated style file, you can print all possible bar code symbologies from your Lexmark printer. Once you complete this unit test, this file and examples can be used in your own programs. Prerequisites Ensure that files zlx_barcodetest.asc and z_test.asc are available on your local filesystem. They were included in the ZIP file that you downloaded. And ensure that you have installed the Lexmark ZOPTRA device type on your SAP system. This can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.lexmark.com/sap/index.html, along with installation instructions. You will also need to create an Output Device associated with the ZOPTRA device type, and your Lexmark printer, before you can print the bar code unit test. How to Import the Bar Code Test File and Style File Execute transaction SE38 or click on Tools->ABAP Workbench-> ABAP editor. Enter program name: RSTXSCRP and hit F8 or Execute button. Click radio button Standard Text. Fill in Object Name as ZLX_BARCODETEST. Change Mode from EXPORT to IMPORT. Hit F8 or Execute button. Use the Import from a Local File dialog to select file zlx_barcodetest.asc on your system. Press the Transfer button, and the Bar Code Test file will be uploaded into your system. Press the green back arrow button, or restart by executing RSTXSCRP again per step 2. Click radio button Style. Fill in Object Name as ZLX_TEST. Change Mode from EXPORT to IMPORT. Hit F8 or Execute button. Use the Import from a Local File dialog pulldown to select file z_test.asc on your system. Press the Transfer button, and the associated Style file will be uploaded into your system. Associate test file ZLX_BARCODETEST with style Z_TEST Go into change mode Click on the menu option Format-->Style Select style Z_TEST from the list shown (perhaps double-clicking Z_TEST). Press Enter, and save your changes. The new style change takes effect immediately. Print with ZLX_BARCODETEST Go to transaction SO10, and enter ZLX_BARCODETEST in the Text Name window. Print using the toolbar pulldown StandardText -> Print, or use CTRL-P. Enter your Lexmark printer in the Output Device block, and click the Print Immediately radio button.
