Goldman Environmental Consultants understands that safety and health are critical issues for every organization. GEC believes that a management system approach is an effective way of lowering health and safety risks. A management system is a statement to employees, customers, suppliers, stakeholders and community that the company has done everything in its power to reduce health and safety risks. While no international standard currently exists, OHSAS 18001 is a voluntary document that establishes the requirements for an effective occupational safety and health management system (OH&S MS). GEC can help you minimize risk to employees and other interested parties who may be exposed to occupational health and safety risks, reduce downtime and associated costs, demonstrate an innovative and forward thinking approach, increase access to new customers and business partners, and manage health and safety risks effectively.

OSHA Training
Goldman Environmental Consultants develops and delivers customized training programs to numerous clients from hospitals to manufacturers. Even when OSHA does not specifically require re-training for certain regulatory programs, many companies use refresher training as a good opportunity to review accident history, workplace hazards, chemical handling and management procedures, maintenance operations, and discuss what works and what needs improvement. GEC develops site-specific training programs to complement the client's EH&S programs by taking a facility tour, reviewing client's operations, interviewing key employees, and reviewing company records and incident history. Hazardous Materials
Federal, state and local rules can be very strict on performance requirements and not always clear as to what you need to do. Hazardous materials must be managed carefully from placing an order, through transport, receiving, handling, storage, on-site use, and ultimately to waste disposal (i.e., cradle-to-grave). GEC works closely with clients to identify "Best Management Practices (BMPs)," to review chemicals prior to ordering, understand their hazards and risks, as well as impact on current waste streams. Will this chemical trigger any regulatory programs or requirements? Companies who follow proactive compliance strategies and BMPs consistently have fewer surprises when new hazardous materials enter their facilities. Most chemicals, for example, trigger the need to train employees about the potential hazards and proper protection and safe handling before they begin using a new chemical. In one example, a purchasing agent, motivated to save costs, changed suppliers of a chemical raw material, not realizing that the new supplier would deliver the chemically identical product packaged in large heavy paper bags instead of small manageable cardboard kegs. This single seemingly minor change created colossal headaches in handling at the warehouse, production and waste disposal departments. In addition, employees started reporting back injuries due to the awkward lifting required with the new heavy bags. GEC identified the problem, proposed remedies and assisted the client in finding an effective solution that still provided the desired cost saving. Request Detailed Qualification Sheet
