welcome Back Welcome back to all students, staff and parents to Term 3. In football terms we are entering the 3rd quarter of the year, also known as the premiership quarter. This is the term when students can really get a lot of work done and progress their learning in a positive way. I am pleased to be able to report a very smooth start to the term so far. worth reading Going Digital Last term we trialled our first full digital version of Worth Reading. This edition of Worth Reading will be our last paper version of the College Newsletter. From next edition onwards Worth Reading will be distributed in an electronic format via PDF or through a link to the schools website. Parents will have the PDF or link sent to their phones and/or email addresses. The key reason for this change is cost and efficiency. The current version of the newsletter has enormous costs in terms of paper, photocopying, postage, envelopes, staff time to collate, address and package 720 envelopes each fortnight. The money saved on this can be better directed to other priorities at the school. Moving to a digital medium also allows improvement in the future including the possible use of sound and video embedded into the newsletter. For any families who do not have access to email/mobile phone the school would be happy to continue to provide a paper copy of the newsletter. Please contact Anne Eacott in the Office (56239900) to let us know if this is the case. china Delegation Warragul Regional College along with other schools in West Gippsland will be hosting a delegation of 30 Chinese students and teachers. The delegation arrives on Sunday 29th July and will be in Warragul for two weeks. semester 1 reports Thank you to all of the families who have been in contact with the school to discuss issues, concerns or points of clarification about their students report. The report to parents is an important way of linking parents, students and teachers together in a partnership focussed on student learning. Please dont hesitate to contact the school to discuss any concerns or queries you may have with your childs report. not negotiables Uniform and Presentation Year Level Teams are currently targeting students out of uniform. Parents can help us by ensuring that students own the correct uniform, that they wear it to school and that they have a note if they need to be out of uniform for any reason. Thank you in advance to all students and parents for your support to ensure all students are wearing full school uniform.

recess and Lunchtime
My office and hallway are full of students hanging around to get a bit of warmth. Its become the junior school common room. I find that these times are very rewarding and effective in my role as a chaplain. It gives me the opportunity to really engage with the students in an environment where they are relaxed and open with each other. We have some meaningful and challenging conversations about all sorts of issues.
Presentation Ball
I was able to take all the students who supported us with waitering to McDonalds to say thanks. The young ones are keen to help out with the next catering event.
Breaky club
I am an old hand at breaky clubs now. They run pretty smoothly and the students love to hang out in a warm place on the cold winters morning. The Community Church Club is doing a great job running their breakfast. I drop in every now and then to say hello and see if they need anything.
Public relations
An extended part of my role is to engage with the schools wider community such as parents, church groups clubs and any group that has an invested interest in the school. On several occasions I have gone to students homes to meet with the parents to discuss where their child is at with their schooling. I have met with Pastors to discuss my role as a chaplain to see how they could support me and the school community. I aim to spend some time with some of the official dignitaries in the area such as members of the council and state and federal government representatives.

On Tuesday 24 July, The Age and Herald Sun newspapers will include VTAC Tertiary Entry 2015 supplements. These will be an extremely useful resource, for example, in selecting Year 11 subjects. Prerequisite subjects for university entrance in 2015 will be included. You are encouraged to collect one. Consider transport issues; is the campus accessible from where you live? Check the environment where you will study; will you be happy there for three/four years? Consider the facilities/clubs offered at your preferred institution Consider visiting a rural campus, especially if you think you wont obtain a high enough ATAR for a metropolitan campus. ATARs are often lower and they often offer more personal assistance, accommodation, and a lifestyle which will suit some students. IMPORTANT NOTE: If you plan to apply for a course involving an interview/folio presentation/ audition as part of the selection process you may be asked what you learnt about the course at Open Day. Attendance is vital. Monash staff and students have studied there to date. It aims to develop Australia Europe links through research, collaboration, conferences and as a centre of study for Australians.
