Question 2c. - Discuss Appendix B Missing from the report given in the textbook are the cover page, summary, and table of content. I believe it is deliberate on the part of the authors to leave out the summary. But, why would they do it? I think it is one of the key components in the evaluation report. This is inconsistent to what I intend to put in my final evaluation report for this class project. Apart from the summary, there

are no other surprises in the chapter since what I found there are the basic components of an evaluation report. Hence they are deemed relevant to the evaluation process in general and to my course in particular where all of the elements listed below in addition to a cover page, summary, and table of content will be included in my evaluation report project. From the textbook perspective, appendix B illustrates how one writes the final report or summative evaluation for a program at a city zoo that involves 8 disadvantage or at-risk students who were trained as student activity leaders (SALs), and 30 junior explorers (JEs) from elementary schools in the area. My project on the other hand, will be looking at the extent to which the English department of New Beginning School is helping non-English speaking students to integrate in the government's public school system. Appendix B also demonstrates how one should style or tailor the report to address the intended audience from just a leaflet with nontechnical terms send to parents, to a more complex one with technical terms, statistical charts, and tables showing analyzed data send to project director and funding agency. The stakeholders that I will address are the school administrator and the Ministry of Social Development. Appendix B focuses primarily on the elements of a summative evaluation report which includes: Introduction

This section introduces the participants (SALs), how they were recruited, trained and given the mandate to teach JEs. It also gives a brief history about the operation of the zoo. Methodology Evaluation Design

The evaluator uses the objective oriented model. Eight objectives were developed. Instrumentation Interview staff at the zoo Existing project records Three instruments (i) Self concept questionnaire, (ii) Semantic differential form, and (iii) Selfevaluation form. Analysis Data was compiled and reviewed with respect to project objectives. The pretest/ posttest scores were compared; this was done primarily to determine if the changes occur as result of intervention or by chance. This will be done for my project as well.

Results Objectives

The eight objectives were examined to determine if they were met. Incidentally all eight objectives were satisfactorily met. Recommendations

Several recommendations were made; some directly related to the program objectives while some were made to improve the program offered by the zoo; for example, SALS should get IDs and be treated and accepted as staff members. In addition, recommendations were also made to funding agency for the continued support and funding of the program. Insight was given for the project expansion and for bilingual students to be used as SALs. Appendixes

This section consists of the following: 57 items on a Self concept questionnaire, (ii) 14 items on a Semantic differential form, and (iii) 16 items on a Self- evaluation form. My project will contain the questionnaires for the school administrator and students. In conclusion, the general view of the evaluator was that all of the objectives were met and that the program was successful because it positively impacted the SALs as well as the JEs. The evaluator strongly recommended that that the program should be sustained by the cooperate sponsors with their continued funding in the medium to long term operation of the zoo. I will make recommendations and draw conclusion after I finish collecting and analyzing the data for my project.
