GRUPO

DESCRIPCIN
Estructuras para las que se recomienda un grado de seguridad elevado. Pertenecen a este grupo aqullas que en caso de fallar causaran la prdida de un nmero
importante de vidas, o perjuicios econmicos o culturales excepcionalmente altas; asimismo, las construcciones y depsitos cuya falla implique un peligro
significativo por almacenar o contener sustancias txicas o inflamables, as como aquellas cuyo funcionamiento es impresindible y debe continuar despues de la
ocurrencia de vientos fuertes tales como los provocados por huracanes. Quedan excluidos los depsitos y las estructuras enterradas.

Ejemplos de este grupo son las construcciones cuya falla impida la operacin de plantas termoelctricas, hidroelctricas y nucleares; entre stas pueden
mencionarse las chimeneas, las subestaciones elctricas y las torres y postes que formen parte de lneas de transmisin principales. Dentro de esta clasificacin
tambien se cuentan las centrales telefnicas e inmuebles de telecomunicaciones principales, puentes, estaciones terminales de transporte, estaciones de
bomberos, de rescate y de policia, hospiales e inmuebles mdicos con reas de urgencias, centros de operacin en situaciones de desastre, escuelas, estadios,
templos y museos. Del mismo modo pueden considerarse los locales, las cubiertas y los paraguas que protejan equipo especialmente costoso, y las reas de
reunin que puedan alojar a ms de doscientas personas, tales como salas de estectculos, auditorios y centros de convensiones.

Estructuras para las que se recomienda un grado de seguridad moderado. Se encuentra dentro de este grupo aquellas que en caso de fallar, representan un bajo
riesgo de prdida de vidas humanas y que ocasionaran daos materiales de magnitud intermedia. Este es el caso de las plantas industriales, bodegas ordinarias,
gasolineras (excluyendo los depsitos exteriores de combustibles pertenecientes al Grupo A), comercios restaurentes, casas para habitacin, viviendas, edificios
de apartamentos u oficinas, hoteles, bardas cuya altura sea mayor que 2.5 metros y todas las construcciones cuya falla por viento pueda poner en peligro a otras
de esta clasificacin o de la anterior. Se incluyen tambin salas de reunin y espectculos y estructuras de depsitos, urbanas o industriales, no incluidas en el
Grupo A, as como todas aquellas construcciones que formen parte de plantas generadoras de energa y que, en caso de fallar, no paralizan el funcionamiento de
la planta. Asimismo se consideran en este grupo las subestaciones elctricas y las lneas y postes de transmisin de menor importancia que las del Grupo A.

Estructuras para las que se recomienda un bajo grado de seguridad. Son aqullas cuya falla no implica graves consecuencias, ni pueden causar daos a
construcciones de los Grupos A y B. Abarca, por ejemplo, no slo bodegas provisionales, cimbras, carteles, muros aislados y bardas con alturas no mayor que 2.5
metros, sino tambien recubrimientos, tales como canceleras y elementos estructurales que formen parte de las fachadas o de las construcciones, siempre y
cuando no representen un peligro que pueda causar daos corporales o materiales importantes en caso de desprendimiento. Si por el contrario, las consecuencias
de su despendimiento son grabes, dichos recubrimientos se analizarn utilizando las presiones de diseo de la estructrura principal.

DESCRIPCIN

Estructuras poco sencibles a las rfagas y a los efectos dinmicos del viento. Abarca todas aqullas en las que la relacin de aspecto , (definida como el
coeficiente entre la altura y la menor dimensin en planta), es menor o igual a cinco y cuyo periodo natural de vibracin es menor o igual a un segundo. Pertenecen
a este tipo, por ejemplo, la mayora de los edificios para habitacin u oficinas,bodegas, naves industriales, teatros y auditorios, puentes cortos y viaductos. En el
caso de puentes, constituidos por losas, trabes,armaduras simples o continuas o arcos, la relacin de aspecto se calcular como el cociente entre el claro mayor y
la menor dimensin perpendicular a ste. Tambin incluye las construcciones cerradas con sistemas de cubierta suficientemente rigidos, es decir, capaces de
resistir las cargas debidas al viento sin que vare esencialmente su geometra. Se excluyen las cubiertas flexibles, como las de tipo colgante, a menos que por la
adopcin de una geometra adecuada proporcionada por la aplicacin de preesfuerzo u otra medida conveniente, logre limitarse a la respuesta estructural
dinmica.

Estructuras que por su alta relacin de aspecto o las dimensiones reducidas se su seccin transversal son especialmente sensibles a las rfagas de corta duracin
(entre 1 y 5 segundos) y cuyos periodos naturales largos favorecen la ocurrencia de oscilaciones importantes en la direccin del viento. Dentro de este tipo se
cuentan los edificios con relacin de aspecto, , mayor que cinco o con periodo fundamental mayor que un segundo. Se incluyen tambin, por ejemplo, las torres
de celosa atirantadas y las autosoportadas para lneas de transmisin, chimeneas, tanques elevados, antenas, bardas, parapetos, anuncios y, en general, las
construcciones que presentan una dimensin muy corta paralela a la direccin del viento. Se excleyen aqullas que explcitamente se mencionan como
pertenecientes a los Tipos 3 y 4.

Estas estructuras adems de reunir todas las caractersticas de las del Tipo 2, presentan oscilaciones importantes transversales al flujo del viento provocadas por
la aparicin peridica de vrtices o remolinos con ejes paralelos a la direccin del viento. En este tipo se incluyen las construcciones y elementos aproximadamente
cilindricos o prismticos esbeltos, tales como chimeneas, tuberas exteriores o elevadas, arbotantes para ilumunacin, postes de distribucin y cables de lneas de
transmisin.

Estructuras que por su forma o por lo largo de sus periodos de vibracin (periodos naturales mayores que un segundo), presentan problemas aerodinmicos
especiales. Entre ellas se hallan las formas aerodinmicamente inestables como son los cables de las lneas de transmisin cuya seccin transversal se ve
modificada de manera desfavorable en zonas sometidas a heladas, las tuberas colgantes y las antenas parablicas. Tambien pertenecen a esta clasificacin las
cubiertas colgantes que no pueden incluirse en el Tipo 1 y las estructuras flexibles con periodos de vibracin prximos entre s.
