Newly Appointed Bishop of Ballarat
On Wednesday Pope Benedict XV1 appointed Fr Paul Bird CSsR as the 8th Bishop of the Diocese of Ballarat. For the past few years he has been the Provincial Superior of the Redemptorists in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore & Malaysia. For many years Fr Paul was editor in chief at Majellan Publications. Bishop Peter Connors now becomes the Administrator of the Diocese until the ordination and installation of Fr Paul on Tuesday, 16th October.

FIRST COMMUNION
Over 70 children, supported by their families, have begun a special time of preparation for First Communion. We are invited to support these children through prayer and example.

Rite of Presentation
Children: Most Loving God, you call each of us here around the altar, the table of the Lord, to share in the Body and Blood of Christ and to be filled with the joy of the Holy Spirit. Through this Sacred Meal, give us the strength to be a sign of your love in the world. Be with us and all those who will help us prepare for this most important Sacrament.
