1.0 Magnets 1.1 Pupils should learn that magnet can repel and attract each other. By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to Demonstrate that magnet attract or repel to each other according to the same or different pole. Observing, classifying, communicating. Comparing and contrasting 30 minute Pictures, text book, cd science year 3, magnets Having and interest and curiosity towards the environment

Nobel Values Activities Pupils explore the variety shapes and sizes of magnets by looking and holding each one of it in groups. Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Teacher name the variety of magnets according to their shapes such as bar magnet, horseshoe, cylindrical and circular. Explain to the pupils each magnet has north pole and south pole. Pupils observe what happen when they put two magnets near each other. State to the pupils, the magnet either can attract or repel each other. Step 4 Pupils observe what happen when they put two same poles of magnets near each other. Explain to the pupils, when the same pole of the magnet were put together they will repel to each other. Step 5 Pupils observe what happen when they put two different poles of magnets near each other. Explain to the pupils, when the different pole of magnet were put together they will attract to each other. Step 6 State and explain to the pupils that North pole repels North pole, South pole repels South pole and North pole will attract South pole. Step 7 Pupils will write down some notes into their science journal, and then answer the question on worksheet 1 and worksheet 2 on 21 and 22 in their science activity book.

60 minute Text book, cd, lcd, worksheet, picture, magnets Having an interest and curiosity towards the environment. Pupils discuss the proper way to handle magnets during activities. Pupils discus the need to handle magnets properly. Pupils list what are we suppose not to do to the magnets to keep it strength. Pupils are ask to draw the picture on how to handle mangnets properly. Write a short report. Draw the picture shows the way to handle magnets properly. Cut and paste picture that we are not suppose to do to a magnet.

1.0 Magnets 1.3 That magnet attract some materials. By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to; Demonstrate using several material to show that magnets will attract some materials but not others. Observing, predicting Attributing, comparing, relating, visualizing. 60 minutes Picture, text book, cd, magnets Being responsible about the safety of one self other and the environment. Step 1 Pupils explore variety of object made from different materials . Explain to the pupils that object are made out of wood, plastic, metal, steel, rubber, sponge wool etc. Step 2 Ask them to predict which object will be attract by a magnets. Step 3 Pupils investigate to find out whether their prediction are correct. Pupils group the materials according to whether they are attracted or not by a magnet. Step 4 State that all those materials are called magnetic objects and those are not attracted to magnet are called non magnetic objects. Step 5 State the object that are attracted by a magnet. Record their findings in a table in their science journal.

Observing, measuring, and using numbers, interpreting data, experimenting. Attributing, comparing and contrasting, relating, analyzing, making conclusion. Cd, LCD, Charts, charts Being systematic, being kind hearted, being cooperative. Pupils design a fair test to compare the strength of different magnets. Pupils have to decide how to measure the strength of a magnet. Pupils carry out their test. Record their findings in a table. Pupils form a conclusion based on the observation. e.g. Magnet A is the strongest because it can hold the most numbers of paper clips.
