Report on Industrial Visit Date: 19th March, 2012 Prepared by, Vaidya Bhaumik Student Masters in VLSI and

Embedded systems design Gujarat Technological University Ahmedabad To, Srikanth Jadcherla CEO and chairman Seer Akademi Respected Sir, Sub: Report of the five day industrial visit to Hyderabad On receiving the letter of permission from Dr. Akshay agrawal, the vice chancellor of GTU and the management support from Vidyasagar Sir , Directorbusiness development , students along with two coordinators went to Hyderabad for five day industrial visit of various companies. Upon reaching Hyderabad by train our first visit was to JNTU global classroom. It was whole new experience. We saw great sitting arrangement for students with all students have their personal desktop connected via LAN to server. Also saw some of the projects made by JNTU students. Also had a chance to interact with JNTU students. It was fun exchanging culture with them. Then we visited Seer Akademi. Seer Akademi is a worldwide pioneer in micro electronics engineering education. There we had the privilege to interact with Mrs. Radhika Jadcherla ,she gave us brief about seer akademi and what sought of activities are performed in seer akademi. Then we had a chance to know about two incubations going on in seer akademi. First was about virtual me. I found it very useful and need of an hour. It will give idea to females about how saree will look on them without touching or wearing them. The second incubation was about 3D processing and digital books. Again this is very useful for the student community at large. So overall very impressed with the activities going on there and inspired to do one of my own. On the second day, we had the chance to visit Astra Microwave Products Ltd. Astra Microwave designs, develops and manufactures subsystems for RF and microwave systems used in defense, space, meteorology and

telecommunication. First we were briefed about the products that company are making and overall history of the company by the marketing head of the company. Then we were briefed about MMICs (Monolithic microwave integrated circuits) that they are working on. It was completely new domain for me so found it very interesting. We also saw transmitter and receiver board for automatic antenna rotation system. Then we saw how these chips are tested at different temperatures. We also saw how they are tested for vibration. We also had a chance to see clean room from the outside. On the next day , we had chance to visit Sulakshana circuits limited. Their we were exposed to whole pcb design process. We saw single sided, dual sided and multi layered pcbs. They make up to 8 layers pcb .I found that fact very interesting. We were taken to every machines that are used in pcb designing. We were made aware of how final pcb is manufactured from gerber file given to them. From CNC drilling to photolithography to soft soldering tocomponent placement to bbc (bare board testing) to final quality control , we saw pcb demo at every stage. Basically we had exposure to whole embedded system hardware course in practical. On the next day , we visited krishma solar pvt. Limited. They manufacture PV panels and systems. They offer solar mono crystalline module and solar poly crystalline modules. There we had chance to see solar cells and frames. These cells are made from quartz and silicon. The voltage capacity of each cell is 0.5v. They design solar cells for different watts. Here we were exposed to each stage that solar cell are passed to before handing over to end user. These stage includes tabbling, stringing, layout , lamination ,frame fixing and junction box fixing. Also had a chance to see some solar products that can be very useful in rural areas. At last , these visit was not just about education. We had chance to see Hyderabad. We visited many places like the char minar ,golkonda fort ,snow world ,hussain sagar lake and ofcourse shreeshailam (Mallikarjune) one of the twelve jyotirling of lord shiva. Also saw the international airport of Hyderabad which is second largest in india. Basically got over odd by the development of the city since I visited last time. Though missed the biryani but can take consolation from fruit biscuits. So I had a great time in Hyderabad for five days. Enjoyed a lot. Thanking you. Faithfully yours, Bhaumik.
