SmartCare

SmartCare is a solution for lean All-IP network operation and it helps operators build a network O&M system that can visualize the All-IP network, reflect true subscriber experience, quickly identify the causes of network problems, and analyze subscriber behaviors. Below are details about the SmartCare supporting platform.

SmartCare SEQ Analyst

SEQ Analyst is a platform for business quality monitoring and management by individual user and multiple vendors in a quasi-realtime and retraceable manner. More

SmartCare VisualIP
Our SmartCare VisualIP is the first in the industry to visualize the IP bearer and core networks, enabling O&M engineers to maintain them on the same platform. It helps operators build reliable and efficient ALL-IP networks, such as real-time IP network monitoring, quick identification of network faults, and active network operation and maintenance (O&M).

SEQ Analyst
SEQ Analyst is a platform for business quality monitoring and management by individual user and multiple vendors in a quasi-realtime and retraceable manner. As an indispensable part of the operation support system for modern telecommunications networks, our SmartCare SEQ Analyst is widely used for service commissioning, subscriber complaint handling, troubleshooting, subscriber experience management, and value-added service deployment. It also contributes toward lean operation principles. It collects various signaling and protocol data (by using methods such as high-impedance cross-connection, port mirroring, Ethernet Splitter(TAP), and optical splitter), decodes signaling messages, consolidates call detail records (CDRs), simulates service connection processes, and analyzes network and service indicators. With our SmartCare SEQ Analyst, you can monitor the network and services statuses in real-time and also customize signaling monitoring tasks and run them without affecting the network.

Features
Our SmartCare SEQ Analyst provides end-to-end signaling collection and analysis. It helps carriers improve O&M efficiency, allocate network resources more cost-effectively, and improve subscriber experience, while detecting and analyzing subscriber behavior, both informative and illicit. With SmartCare SEQ Analyst, operators can enhance the quality of their networks and services.

Improve O&M Efficiency Our SmartCare SEQ Analyst can obtain the end-to-end signaling procedure of each call by querying CDRs. By analyzing the signaling messages generated during this end-to-end procedure, the SmartCare SEQ Analyst can identify the causes of service failures and improve the efficiency with which subscriber concerns are addressed. Optimize Network Resource Allocation The SmartCare SEQ Analyst analyzes inter-network traffic trends, which operators can use when traffic is heavy to decide whether to expand capacity or make necessary contingency plans. The SmartCare SEQ Analyst analyzes the distribution of traffic in different office directions and allocates transmission resources (such as inter-office trunk links) according to the real-time traffic volume. By doing so, it ensures cost-effective resource allocation and optimal service quality at the same time. Enhance Subscriber Experience SmartCare SEQ Analyst evaluates subscriber experience based on Quality of Experience (QoE) system indicators, such as accessibility, integrity, and retention, all of which are defined by ITU-T. It focuses on the experience of VIP and VAP subscribers. It provides special QoE reports for each VIP subscriber and monitors and handles their problems in real-time. It also identifies VAP subscribers based on the thresholds defined in the QoE system, allowing operators to continuously improve service quality for them and reduce the customer churn rate. Identify Informative and Illicit Subscriber Behaviors Our SmartCare SEQ Analyst analyzes subscriber behaviors and provides the information based on these analyses for operators to use in developing value-added services. For example, with the real-time subscriber location information provided by our SmartCare SEQ Analyst, local operators can send short messages to inform subscribers that they have entered a roaming area and welcome them. Local businesses can also send advertisements to subscribers in the vicinity. In addition, it monitors fraudulent subscriber behavior, such as cloning SIM cards, excessive use of network resources without paying for them, and internetwork settlement fraud.

It provides a basic supporting platform for thorough wireless network analysis and troubleshooting.

Features
Nastar provides four sub-solutions: RF Optimization Traditional drive tests (DTs) and call quality tests (CQTs) cannot obtain comprehensive data because performing tests on the entire network is not feasible. The Nastar obtains a large amount of data generated during the calls of subscribers from the network, analyzes the data with configuration data and engineering parameters based on mature performance algorithms, supports correlation analysis, and provides multiple optimization analysis themes including coverage, neighboring cell, GSM frequency, uplink interference, pilot pollution, and cell performance analysis, and analyzes all the network problems. In this way, the Nastar can reduce the costs of DTs and manual analysis, reduce the OPEX, and improve the accuracy of problem analysis. Interworking Nastar supports multiple network systems such as GSM, UMTS, LTE, CDMA and TD-SCDMA network systems. It also supports the interoperations between different network systems, such as GSM/UMTS neighboring cell analysis and GSM/TD-SCDMA neighboring cell analysis. Thus, it ensures smooth network evolution.

User Experience Optimization The traditional KPI monitoring can provide only the overall situation of the entire network instead of the detailed information about subscribers and subscriber groups, thus failing to reflect the actual subscriber experience. The Nastar obtains user call event records, which can reflect the quality of radio links and actual experience of subscribers, from the network and detects and thoroughly analyzes the network problems that affect subscriber experience. In this way, the Nastar overcomes the defects of the traditional KPI monitoring, and thus significantly improves subscriber experience. User Experience Optimization provides three functions including VIP analysis, complaint analysis and terminal analysis. How can the user experience and service quality be ensured and managed? How can visualized network O&M be realized and efficiency enhanced? SmartCare solution provides an optimal answer. Mobile networks are marching through a broadband and IP-transport evolution. Broadband evolution has generated diversified applications and changed the user habits; while IP transport has packetized the services and content, increasing the challenge on service analysis and resolution. During the network evolution, diversified user habits and applications are demanding higher service quality, thus creating new challenges to operators in maintaining their networks. Network maintenance should not focus only on a single network element or KPI optimization, but the service quality required by users and network quality by service applications. How can the user experience and service quality be ensured and managed? How can visualized network O&M be realized and efficiency enhanced? SmartCare solution provides an optimal answer.

Challenges from broadband access and IP transport

How to quickly identify service quality issues A monitoring system and measurement standards are required to manage user experience and service quality. The monitoring system visualizes service quality, while measurement standard measures service quality. Apart from managing user experience and service quality, the second challenge of an operator is to quickly identify service quality issues. Currently, there are

two obstacles for quick problem identification: a long service chain that contains multiple equipment providers and packet services from IP transport. How to realize differentiated user experience management Diversified mobile services have created both opportunity and challenge on differentiated user management. User differentiation helps develop high-end users from the traditional user model, and increase operators revenue through value added services. At the same time, user differentiation has increased the difficulties in managing and assuring user experience. How can a differentiated user experience be provided? How can service quality be improved and assured? How can the unlimited utilization of network resources be controlled? These are the problems to be solved. How to fulfill comprehensive service quality management Broadband access has overthrown the service model of traditional voice service, and diversified service application has been made possible. The mobile broadband network has successfully untied the bond of the traditional fixed broadband network; the service applications in a high-speed mobile broadband network are more diversified compared with those in a fixed broadband network. Applications like mobile web browsing, mobile online gaming, mobile streaming, mobile mail, etc. are getting more popular. Operators have to move from managing single voice service quality to managing diversified and comprehensive service quality. The quality requirement for voice service is comparatively lower, as it emphasizes on assuring accessibility, retainability and mobility. Diversified services have created different requirements on quality; the overall throughput requirement for web services is not high, yet it is expected to have shorter delay from clicking to completing the content display; online gaming requires low latency during the entire service utilization; mobile streaming requires low codec error, less retransmission and so on. Mobile broadband network services are having more complex requirement on quality, and managing the service quality comprehensively has become a great challenge. How to achieve intelligent PS service analysis Mobile broadband has increased the capability requirements of the transport layer and promoted the development of high quality services. Meanwhile, the increasing user demand and network traffic has not delivered corresponding revenue growth for operators, especially for those who are leasing their pipeline as the main business model. This has led to a dilemma of increased traffic but not revenue. How to balance cost, revenue, user experience, and service quality has become an important issue for mobile operators.

Network traffic is closely related to the services. New service model and content will create different traffic loads on the network. The drivers for operators to have comprehensive service management include: identifying service model, in-depth analysis on service content, control on service, promoting service with higher return of investment (ROI).

Through the service quality platform, IP bearer network information is collected, analyzed and stored on a shared database. The information covers the core network, bearer network topology, service route, bearer equipment, bandwidth, traffic and the bearer network QoS. It is easy to identify whether the abnormal services are caused by equipment or bearer network faults.

In addition, SmartCare can quickly identify and solve the service quality issues through a solution knowledge base. The functions include: 1) identifying service quality issues based on different service types and service routes; and 2) resolving service quality issues quickly based on user location. Proactive care and differentiated experience management Differentiated user management mainly covers two types of users. First, Very Important Person (VIP), who is an important force in supporting the income of an operator. Assuring service quality and proactive care for VIP users can improve their satisfaction level and loyalty, avoiding the loss of key customers as well as the revenue. Second, Very Annoyed Person (VAP), who is the main pressure on network operation. Quickly identifying the VAP users, solving their service quality issues, and active care can help reduce the O&M pressure, churn rate and negative impact on brand image. SmartCare can deliver differentiated management for both VIP and VAP users, including the real-time monitoring of VIP/VAP service quality, and quick resolution of VIP/VAP service quality issues. SmartCare can also provide service quality assurance for VIP areas and key events like the Olympic Games, the World Cup and more.
