ASEAN COCOA CLUB WORKPLAN 1996 1999 NO ACTIVITIES 1. 1.

.1 JOINT COCOA PRODUCT PROMOTION Identify existing problems related to cocoa in ASEAN countries A. To conduct a joint workshop on quality improvement - transfer technology - post harvest and processing methods - promote a network of collectors and buyers of wet beans for central processing B. Extension materials - booklets, pamphlets, brochures etc. C. Establish guidelines on regulatory measures to control quality D. Research on economics of fermented and unfermented beans Exchange information pertaining to the cocoa industry in each ASEAN countries A. Quarterly submission of data (eg. Production and trade statistics, investment, etc) from each ASEAN country to the ACC Secretariat for compilation and distribution B. Establishment of ACC cocoa database Joint Promotion including generic promotion to increase consumption in the ASEAN countries A. Produce standard promotional materials for the industry A.1 Collection of information from ASEAN countries A.1.1 From cocoa producing countries - range of products and respective composition/ingredients of products - value of production - data on imports and exports of products - rate of consumption for the past 5 years - estimated/projected growth in consumption - collect recipes/new recipes A.1.2 From non-cocoa producing countries - data on imports (including re-export) - rate of consumption and estimated/projected growth A.2 Design promotional materials B. Organization and participation in trade fairs B.1 Coordinate promotional activities among ASEAN countries B.1.1 Collect information on planned trade fairs/cocoa and chocolate exhibits/seminars from respective ASEAN countries (if any) B.1.2 Collect list of companies, organizations concerned with the cocoa industry from ASEAN countries B.2 Identify appropriate fairs/exhibit/seminars date, venue and activities B.2.1 Discuss suggested date/venue/activities for the fairs/exhibits etc. COOPERATION IN DOWNSTREAM ACTIVITIES Stage seminars/workshops or demonstration to share advances made in downstream research and activities ENHANCE COMPETITIVENESS OF COCOA AND COCOA PRODUCTS OF ASEAN
