Please Note this Scope of Work is intended as an example of work contemplated in the West End Move. A detailed Scope of Work will be more fully designed as part of this contract.
District of Columbia Public Library Scope of Work Moving Services
The District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL) is seeking a vendor that will provide l move management services (supervision, labor, supplies, materials, packing, unpacking, furniture and carpet protection, debris removal and cleaning of area upon completion of assignment) for the physical transport and set-up of the library collection, IT equipment and some small furniture items to move the library at Francis Gregory, 3660 Alabama Ave., SE to the interim location at 2100 36th Place, SE. The move to the new location will require the pick-up and delivery of some items from the Martin Luther King Memorial Library (MLK), 901 G Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 to the new location. The move will also include the pick-up delivery of items from the library to other MLK branch libraries. The specific items to be moved and work to be performed include: Pack and relocate collection of approximately 22,000 items including books and media from library to Interim. Place collection on shelves in general order. Pack books and return them to MLK library storage. Provide any packing materials needed (boxes, tape) Relocate miscellaneous items library to the interim, i.e. Xerox, copy Machine, coin machine, logon machines, scanners, 6 PCs, and other equipment as designated. --Pack other PCs for return to MLK. Move IT equipment from MLK to the interim: approximately 20 boxes. Relocate miscellaneous small furniture items such as book trucks from the library to the interim. Provide skids to stack boxed storage books (shrink wrapped and labeled) at MLK.

Remove one mobile display unit to another branch library. Remove three mobile display units to the main library or MLK, as designated Remove three PC tables to a branch library. Rearrange shelving in periodical area. Arrange furniture in interim: cabinets, refrigerator, lockers, etc.

Vendor should possess the following experience: 1. A minimum of 10 years of moving public library collections (specifically Dewey

Decimal classifications), including: books, CDs, DVDs, over-size books, etc. 2. Handling, packing, storing and shelving of special and rare collections 3. Moving, integrating and/or combining collections from different locations into a single shelf order. 4. Following detailed shelving plans proposing modifications as necessary. 5. Working with library staff to calculate shelf space as move progresses. 6. Ability to work with library staff to shelf-read for Dewey Decimal accuracy following completion of the move.
7. Packing of library materials for long-term storage.

Additional Information: Work may be performed during normal business hours. Period of Performance: Work must be completed within one week of Notice to Proceed (NTP).
