Keeping up with the Joneses . . .

Greetings to our church family at Portland. We are both looking forward to being with you all again!! Our twins have just turned "2" (31st July) and their Aunty, Uncle and cousin Naomi have been down here for a week. It was a lovely, family time. Prior to that we have been to weddings; had the birth of twin great grandchildren to treasured friends, and another birth; been with a friend who lost her Dad; another going through radio-therapy; and another dear, close friend whose wife passed away. All these dear friends have always 'been there' for us, so it was so good 'being there' for them! Have we had a rest? NO! Has this time been rewarding? ABSOLUTELY!! Would we have changed anything? No - it has all been in God's hands. Are we excited to return? ABSOLUTELY!! As Chloe and Piper would say "Yay!" It will be so good to renew friendships and share fellowship and hugs lots of them!! Until next weekend, God bless and keep you, each one. With our love in the Lord Jesus, David & Ruth

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Col. 4:2

Thoughts for the Week . . .

God helps those who help others rather than themselves. The Kingdom of God cannot be built of leftovers. Contentment consists not in great wealth, but in few wants.

~ Praying for our new Pastor ~

We are presently meeting each week on Thursday evening at 7:30 pm in Church House to pray that God will direct us to the person of His choosing. It is felt that if people were able to include fasting during Thursdays or part of the day, this would further contribute to these particular prayers. It is also suggested that those who may not be able to attend prayer times in the evening, might like to set aside time to pray at home, along with those at Church House, for the same purpose. 2 Chronicles 7:14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

If you would like to help, please see Debbie, Kelly, Tony or Wilma/Roger TODAY - or why not come along to the Mission meeting after morning tea today. Thank you! Supporting our Church Building Fund plus Injabara Kindergarten, Ethiopia
