JOB DESCRIPTION

The LINUX System Administrator is responsible for effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of LINUX systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual is accountable for Linux systems that support infrastructure, Middle Tier and the Application teams. * Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs. * Install/configure/rebuild existing or new servers which could be physical or virtual. * Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. * Contribute to and maintain system standards. * Contribute to and maintain security. * Install and maintain security patches on the operational and development systems, which include but are not limited to, Red Hat Linux and Oracle Enterprise LINUX. * Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. * Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. * Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary. * Create, change, and delete user accounts per request as necessary. * Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. * Upgrade/Assist and configure system software that supports infrastructure, Middle Tier and applications. * Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures. * Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor's degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science, preferred. * Experience in a VMWare environment, Enterprise SAN, or Oracle OEM would be a plus * 2-3 years Red Hat or Oracle Enterprise Linux is a must * Proven ability to multi-task. * Independent, self-starter. Ability to work in an Offshore environment where all physical hardware is somewhere else. * Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written correspondence) in a professional and courteous manner with technical and non-technical personnel.

should be open for 24X7 shift model support. Candidate should have a strong foundation with Linux/Unix from a system administrator standpoint. Strong experience in managing Linux/Unix environments across different hardware platforms. Good at installing and managing RHEL . Performance tuning of Linux servers along with patch management General Administration of Unix/Linux - Installation, Users Creation, Group Creation, Permissions, Creations of Folders, NFS, NIS, DNS, DHCP, AUTOFS, NTP, KICKSTART etc.. Platform LSF administration - Basic level L1 Understanding of HPC concepts and working knowledge preferred. Working experiance in HP / DELL Blade hardware's L1. Knowledge on Shell and perl scripting general knowledge of network, storage, and database (MySQL). Hands-on experience with installation and troubleshooting of various Linux/Unix flavors like RedHat, Solaris etc... Experience in Server Management and any proactive monitoring tools like Ngaios etc will be added Advantage. Preferred Certification in RHEL. Should be good at creating standard technical documents and giving training to sub-ordinates. Good at finding the Root Cause Analysis for all critical level incidents and problems and resolving the issues. Able to co-ordinate installation & Configuration of Linux Operating system with Hardware vendors. Strong troubleshooting skills on Linux and Ability to research an issue and advocate a solution Experience with management, administration, and implementation of enterprise level server environments. Good at Incident and Change Management as per ITIL standards.

Good vocabulary, communication & understanding skills Should be able to work on flexible timings based on business requirement On call availability on rotation basis
