1. What according to you are ethics and what ethics are not? Define in your own language.

Ethics in my sense of term are notions that define for a person the dos and donts at any particular situation and morally govern his behavior. Ethics might differ from culture to culture for example in India a few cultures find it unethical to consume non- vegetarian. In my perception things that are amoral for some might be immoral for some and at the same time be absolutely moral for some. Ethics are not laws and do not have any legal implication but are the drivers of ones actions and reactions under situations of crisis. It is only under tough situations a person is able to reflect the credibility of his or her ethical credibility. Ethics are social obligations but politically or legally questionable. They are conventionally accepted norms of society which might take shape of law in the long run. 2. Recognize and explain about two situations wherein you have experienced (or someone you know) ethical issues/problems that bother you as a person? and why? Everyone at one point or the other faces ethical issues and challenges. I faced such a situation when I was working with Smile Foundation, an NGO with pan India presence. I was responsible for promoting Smile Foundation in UP for this reason I was posted in Lucknow. Under this promotion drive we undertook a program Child for Child program where in students from prestigious schools and institutions were sensitized to the fact that they should contribute towards their counterparts through donation of funds in cash or kind and also take up this issue and promote donation in their family and neighborhood . But once I visited a Kendriya Vidyalaya where I got to hear a merciless mishap which destroyed the life of a 11 year old girl . She had visited somebody in her distant neighborhood probably two lanes far from her house and there she was brutally harassed. I was moved by the incident and shared it with my boss. She ignored me by saying, it seemed by saying that, it sounded like a made up story to her. I contemplated a lot and then on I decided that I would only motivate the students to save from their pocket money and started conducting nukkad katak competitions or poster making competitions to leave an impression on young minds about my organization n its motto. This would develop in them a sense of sacrifice for their counterparts by parting from their pocket money and develop sense of working for a social cause in a creative manner. Above all even the school would be comfortable promoting such activities in campus. My friend underwent an ethical dilemma when she was working with a Real Estate giant as HR executive in a small township in the downtown of Jaipur. She was the youngest and the oldest employee in HR department. With the appointment of new emplyoyees at senior post office politics started sprouting up. The new manager tried to manipulated the working and reporting of work at Delhi office (Head office) for this purpose he also tried to gain support of HR team in Jaipur by creating some communication gaps and misunderstandings in the teams at both places which turned out to be utterly unsuccessful. She then felt as if the manager started doing certain undue favors onto her and tried to lure her with better project, also gave her greater importance in the team

which was not required .Later started expecting similar support from her .This made her feel uncomfortable abt the situation and she resigned the job by clearly stating in her resignation letter that it was because of the manager that she was resigning .This caught eyes of the senior management on to him and stringent actions were taken against him.

What according to you are your driving and restraining forces towards behaving ethically? Identify at-least 5 factors/reasons each. There are many ethical drivers for me to mention a few they are as following : 1) Family values: They played a very critical role in molding my Ethics. I can perceive whether a particular event or situation is morally in the right direction or not. 2) Belief in the phrase simple living high thinking, which sounds so ordinary but is most difficult to implement. 3) Education has increased my awareness to social taboos that encircle the Indian society today and the various drives against them. 4) Friends and family : Fortunately I have always had friends who have been a source of learning for me 5) Mentors There are equally strong the restraining forces : 1) Obligations among peer group tend to put me in dilemma at critical times. 2) Social obligations 3) My great amount of involvement and dedication to achieve a particular job makes me oblivious to its indirect impacts. 4) Times of crisis when I am left with no other option - train reservation example. 5) Environmental challenges v/s culture diwali celebration with fire crackers , fire cracker factory has child labour
