Internship Report Proposal on

Prospects of export oriented leather industry in Bangladesh- A brief study on the current situation of the industry and identifying the potentials to boost the trading opportunities.

Origin of the study


This is a study assigned to me as a requirement of Internship, a prerequisite for the completion of the BBA Program in Khulna University. In the contemporary marketing arena, most of the organizations are basing their approaches from product orientation to service orientation. I came to notice the fact that in spite of having great potentialities the whole leather industry of Bangladesh is being overlooked. It is going through crisis moments which if reduced we can give this industry a new shape and take it to the highest reach. When I looked closer into it, I found out that a bit more focus and proper initiatives can change the whole scenario and can generate unforeseeable amount of foreign currencies to our economy. Thus, the proposed topic of this research study is Prospects of export oriented leather industry in Bangladesh- A brief study on the current situation of the industry and identifying the potentials to boost the trading opportunities. This study not only thoroughly identifies the problems experienced by this industry, will also; try to come up with some effective solutions. This research will be prepared under the guidance of my honorable Adviser Mr. Protap Kumar Ghosh, Assistant Professor, Business Administration Discipline, Khulna University, as a mandatory requirement for the fulfillment of BBA degree.

Objective of the research


The objectives of this particular research are broken down to the following categories: Broad Objective The broad or primary objective of this research is to assess the overall present condition of Bangladeshi leather industry and to come up with structured and to the point suggestions to take this industry to a desired level according to the knowledge gained during this internship program and to relate the four year long theoretical learning of Business Administration Program. Specific Objectives: To assess the market of leather goods both local and international

Portraying the current situation of the industry Finding methods to boost the export meeting the local demand

Scope of the report


This research will bring out a total overview about what guidelines this industry needs to follow to be a successful one. And this research will encompass the entire chain of operation that includes collecting animal skins, processing, storing and manufacturing finished goods for local markets. It will also establish a new era in exporting raw leather and leather-made goods as well. This study will be started by observing the sources of leather and will come up with the attachment of different level of preparations and preservation of raw leather to access the optimum opportunities to promote the processed leather and finished leather products.

Methodology
Methodology refers to the essential part of the study and the process of collecting information and arranging it in terms of the relevant issues of the study. It is designed in a way so that it correspondents to achieve the objectives of the study. Information will be collected both from the primary and secondary sources likePrimary Data Primary data will be mainly collected from the different organizations (Bata/Apex) and institutions (institute of leather technology, Bangladesh) and leather processing units specially located in Hajaribag, Dhaka which are directly affiliated to this industry. With the assistance of informal questionnaire we will try to access the insights. Secondary Data Data will be collected from different websites, related publications, and previous research or reports on this industry.

Work Schedule
In order to obtain an efficient process throughout the study, a structured schedule should be observed thoroughly. Hence, I propose the following work schedule to maintain throughout the study: 14th July 17th July, 2012: Topic selection, proposal writing and formal proposal submission 17th July 30th July, 2012: Draft literature review and questionnaire creation, editing and finalizing 30th July 31st August, 2012: Information collection and data analysis. At the same time, finalizing the preliminary preparations (structuring) of the report. 31st August 15th September, 2012: Report writing and incorporating analysis. 15th September 25th September, 2012: Re-analyze the structure of the report, editing according to feedbacks and submission of the draft report. 25th september 5th October, 2012: Incorporating further feedbacks, further editing, validating and submission of the final and completed report.

Conclusion
This research will be done with due sincerity not only for the academic purpose but also to find a reasonable answer behind the present condition of Bangladeshi Leather industry. And I believe that the overall research work will bring out some crucial facts that were absolutely overlooked and thus it will benefit the concerned group of people. This is a proposal for the main research, this can be edited or the procedure can be changed with the consent of honorable Adviser.
