INTRODUCTION
In order to ensure greater efficiency and smooth working in the petroleum sector, Government of India decided to merge the refineries and the distribution activities. The Indian Refineries and Indian Oil Company were combined to form the giant Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) on 1September 1964, with its registered office at Bombay. In 1967, the pipeline division of the corporation was merged with the refineries division. Research &Development of Indian Oil Came into Existence in 1972. In October 1981 Assam Oil Company was nationalized and has been amalgamated with IOCL as Assam Oil Division (AOD).
Indhane
Indane is today one of the largest packed-LPG brands in the world and has been known as Consumer Superbrand Having launched LPG marketing in the mid-60s, IndianOil has been credited with bringing about a kitchen revolution, spreading warmth and cheer in millions of households with the introduction of the clean and efficient cooking fuel. It has led to a substantial improvement in the health of women, especially in rural areas by replacing smoky and unhealthy chulha. Indane is today an ideal fuel for modern kitchens, synonymous with safety, reliability and convenience. With the status of an exclusive business vertical within the Corporation, the Indane network delivers 1.2 million cylinders a day to the doorsteps of over 53 million households, making IndianOil the second largest marketer of LPG globally. The cylinders are in compact 5 kg cylinders for rural, hilly and inaccessible areas, 14.2 kg cylinders for domestic use, and 19 kg and 47.5 kg for commercial and industrial use.
What is LPG?
LPG is a blend of Butane and Propane readily liquefied under moderate pressure. LPG vapour is heavier than air; thus it normally settles down in low-lying places. LPG in fairly large concentrations displaces oxygen leading to a nauseous or suffocating feeling.
AutoGas
1)AutoGas (LPG) is a clean,eco-friendly fuel. 2)It is obtained from natural gas through fractionation and from crude oil through refining. 3)It is a mixture of petroleum gases like propane and butane. 4)AutoGas is a gas at atmospheric pressure and normal temperatures, but it can be liquefied when moderate pressure is applied or when the temperature is sufficiently reduced. 5)This property makes the fuel an ideal energy source for a wide range of applications, as it can be easily condensed, packaged, stored and utilised. 6)When the pressure is released, the liquid makes up about 250 times its volume as gas, so large amounts of energy can be stored and transported compactly. 7)The use of LPG as an automotive fuel has become legal in India with effect from April 24, 2000, albeit within the prescribed safety terms and conditions. 8)The fuel is marketed by IndianOil under the brand name AutoGas
9)"IndianOil has setup 347 Auto LPG Dispensing Stations (ALDS) covering 190 cities across India." 10) Conversion of petrol to AutoGas helps substantially reduce air pollution caused by vehicular emissions. 11) Low filling times and the 35-40% saving is a reason enough for a consumer to convert his vehicle to AutoGas.
Petrol/Gasoline
1)Automotive gasoline and gasoline-oxygenate blends are used in internal combustion spark-ignition engines. 2)These spark ignition engine fuels are primarily used for passenger cars.
Gasoline is a complex mixture of relatively volatile hydrocarbons that vary widely in chemical & physical properties and are derived from fractional distillation of crude petroleum with a further treatment mainly in terms of improvement of its octane rating. The hundreds of individual hydrocarbons in gasoline range from c4 to c11.
XTRAPREMIUM
1)XTRAPREMIUM petrol is a much sought-after fuel among discerning motorists who are in many ways emotionally attached to their wheels. 2)The Clean and Keep Clean function of the super cleanser additive in XTRAPREMIUM reduces deposits at the port fuel injector, intake valve and controls combustion chamber deposits to maintain "like new" performance of the vehicle.
3)Regular use of XTRAPREMIUM gives the vehicle a superior pick-up, smoother drive, better mileage and lower emission.
4)XTRAPREMIUM is designed not only to optimise performance of new generation vehicles but also rejuvenate old vehicles to perform better.
Diesel/Gas oil
1)Diesel is used in diesel engines, a type of internal combustion engine. 2)Rudolf Diesel originally designed the diesel engine to use coal dust as a fuel, but oil proved more effective.
3) Diesel engines are used in cars, motorcycles, boats and locomotives. Automotive diesel fuel serves to power trains, buses, trucks, and automobiles, to run construction, petroleum drilling and other off-road equipment and to be the prime mover in a wide range of power generation & pumping applications.
4)The diesel engine is high compression, self-ignition engine. Fuel is ignited by the heat of high compression and no spark plug is used.
Kerosene
1)Kerosene is used as a domestic fuel for heating / lighting and also for manufacture of insecticides/herbicides/fungicides to control pest, weeds and fungi.
2)Since kerosene is less volatile than gasoline, increase in its evaporation rate in domestic burners is achieved by increasing surface area of the oil to be burned and by increasing its temperature.
3)The two types of burners which achieve this fall into two categories namely vaporisers & atomisers.

More importantly, it serves as a feeling of satisfaction and a meaning to their lives. Employees feel more motivated and thus, are more productive.
1.1. As part of its community development schemes, IOC has helped communities receive clean drinking water; projects have been implemented for this purpose in places like Koyali, New Baholi, (both in western India). Child and maternity centers are run by the company as part of its health initiatives. This is in addition of full fledged hospitals run at IOC townships. In 2003, it had donated Rs50 lakhs for setting up a refractive surgery center at Chennai.
1.2. The company has constructed school buildings, libraries, and provision for furniture, books, uniforms, and laboratory equipments etc in the field of education. Deserving students from poor families are given a helping hand through scholarship
1.3. With the object to protect, preserve and promote the glorious past, Indian Oil has created a non-profit trust, the Indian Oil Foundation, in collaboration in the Archaeological Survey of India and the National Culture Fund of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The beginning of the creation of Indian Oil Foundation lies in Indian Oils Mission statement, to preserve ecological balance and heritage Exclusively funded by Indian Oil with an initial amount of Rs. 25 crores and an annual contribution of Rs. 10 crores, IOF will assume at least one heritage site in every State and Union Territory of the country.
1.4. As a part of its social obligations, Indian Oil has always supported the economically and socially challenged sections of the society. Making them a part of its countrywide reseller system and providing them with a source of living. Almost all socially challenged sections are covered under the sunshade of the community objectives schemes (Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.2008).
