1. General description The ETH2232X is a low cost and highly integrated RS232 to TCP/IP solution. Just a gateway module between serial device and Ethernet. User can transmit serial data to Ethernet easily. With ETH2232X,you can connect your serial device with Ethernet via ETH2232X provides interface quite easier and shorten your development period to obtain more gains. Key features: DTU between RS-232 and Ethernet. MAX serial baudrate:115200 TCP serversTCP client and UDP work mode Support DHCPPPPoE. Support MDI/MDIX. 3.3V or 5 V DC supply.

2 How to connect serial device to Ethernet. Usually, we can see ETH2232X as a gateway between serial device and Ethernet. as the figure:

ETH2232X can achieve network communications with PC use crossover cable or straight lines. Also can communicate use RS-232. The default serial communication baud rate is 115200.Before using. Need to set parameters, Including IP address, MAC address, port number, subnet mask and serial baud rate. You can use it send and receive data after configuration.

3 How to configer the module 3.1 Default parameters IP address : 192.168.1.18 Gateway address : 192.168.1. 1 Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0 MAC : 00 08 DC 00 00 00 Port number : 50000 3.2 How to config the module Use serial commands as follow: 1. Set PW pin to low, go to config mode. 2. Use Configuring Software tools or other serial soft. 3. Send configuration command. 4. Save Configurations, after you changed parameters, confirm that the save commands will be send.

3.3 Commands 3.3.1 Format All the commands can be divided into fixed-length and variable-length. a) Fixed-length command comprised by one byte head and 4 bytes data. As the table: HEAD DATA 1BYTE 4BYTE b) variable-length command composed as CLV format.as: HEAD Length DATA 1BYTE 1BYTE datas c) Response Response comprised by command head and one byte status and added with 0D 0A. Command6: Configure port number COMMAND DATA 0x05 PORTL ,PORTH,0xFF ,0xFF Description: PORTL ----------------- Low byte of port number PORTH ----------------- High byte of port number If the module working in TCP Servers mode or UDP Severs mode,the port number used as source port number. In Client mode they will work as RemotePort number. Command13: Configure the password of PPPoE COMMAND length password 0X0D Len data Description: Len is the length of password. Command14: Configure the user name of PPPoE COMMAND Length User name 0X0E Len data Command15: close the http client connection. Command16: configure the WEB configure function COMMAND DATA 0x10 ON,0XFF,0XFF,0XFF ON: 00 -----------------close WEB configuration; 01 ---------------open WEB configuration. And send this command can reset the password and user name for WEB as 123456. You can use these tools to set the parameters of Eth2232X, such as IP address, working mode, and serial baud rate. The default baud rate is 115200.You can also use this Ethernet tools to configure your module. Firstly you can click the scan button to find the IP address of the module connected in the network, and confirm the communication is normal between module and computer. After the IP be found, you can set the parameters of the module.
