In conclusion, as Ontario’s population continues to rise, so will the demand for

alternative energy resources, and only time will tell whether choosing natural over
nuclear energy will be more effective.

Our energy demans keep rising with the inventions of new gadgets such , yhus to energy
wil be available for a growing economy,

The concern is how o take care of the nuclear wastes

The primary concern is the disposale

Or dependnence on energy is on the rise with the inventions like television, dryers, video
systems, cell phones. Thus one is left

However one I left to consider where Ontario’s energy will stand in the next couple of
years.

Can become very lethal

Study have shown that only after 300 years the waste will not be radioactive

Remains radioactive for thousands of years and its proper handling and care poses a
problem. the environment and Ontarians.

And as fuel bundles continue to rise, alternatve

Firstly, the large capital cost of building nuclear reactors in Ontario is certainly enough f.

The disposal of the waste create is currently a problem, as

We should turn to more natural resources such as solar and wind power, to fulfil our
energy requirments.

Ontario’s electriity comes mainly from three sources: nuclear power, hydroelectric power
and the burning of fossil fuels.

Although nuclear power generates large amounts of energy from a relativitely small tiny
amoundt of fuel, its reactors a are very expensive.

The possible release of radiative materials in a reactor malfunction

The difficulty of disposing of highly toxic radioactive wastes

The large capital costs of building nuclear reactors and then decommissiong them at the
end of their relatively short lifetime
Unknown health effects of long term low-level exposure to radiation

Currently over 51% of Ontario’s power comes from nuclear energy

Within the next 15 years most nuclear units will need to be either upgraded or taken out
of service

Complex waste disposal

Ultimately the best option to the energy crisis is to conserive more so that it is benefiictial
for both the enirmonet and reduce the demands for conservation efforts

Environmentally friends opions such as wind power and small-scale water power are the
most environementlly friendy options
Current electricity nuclear 51%, coal 19%, natural %, renewable 23%

In 2025
Nuclear 50%
Natural 6%
Renewbles 43%

Natural gas and coal-fired plants ontrubte to global warming, natural gas plants produce
less air pollution and greenhouse gases

Thus turn to more renewable and naural sources
