Just as with all breakthroughs in Science, it is rarely a revolution (although it may appear that way in hindsight) rather, it is almost always a slow, tedious evolution of thoughts & ideas, ultimately leading to a new consensus. This brief booklet is an introduction to what we believe will be looked upon as the next great step in the evolution of Optimum Nutrition. A synthesis of several major trends: Superfoods, Raw foods, Plant-Based, Organic, Gluten-Free & The Paleo-Caveman Approach.

most vital nutrients for Quality protein is one of the optimum health & peak performance. There are many sources of protein, however, the list of truly high-quality proteins is quite short. If we impose some additional restrictions such as: organic, plant-based, Paleo -friendly, kosher, and sustainably green, the list becomes miniscule.
Our top choice is Pumpkin Seed Protein: 1. It has a very nice, balanced amino acid profile (i.e., its complete with great biological value); 2. It is raw and certified organic & kosher; 3. It is very clean & sustainably green; 4. It is Paleo-Friendly, and; 5. It tastes great! First and Foremost - Exceptional Nutritional Quality: Pumpkin seeds are naturally rich in high-quality, complete protein (approx. 30% by weight). This is concentrated to 64-75% protein by a special, cold-process technique. It has a very nice balance of all 18 amino acids including both the essential and conditionally essential ones. Typical analysis per 100g of pumpkin seed protein:
Amino Acid Alanine Arginine** Amount 2910 mg 8840 mg Amino Acid Histidine* Isoleucine* Leucine* Lysine* Methionine* Amount 1480 mg 3030 mg 4780 mg 2350 mg 1290 mg Amino Acid Proline** Serine** Threonine* Tyrosine** Trytophan* Valine* Amount 2360 mg 2850 mg 1870 mg 2930 mg 770 mg 3310 mg

** Conditionally Essential amino acids

Equally important, pumpkin seed protein is easy to digest and has a very low allergenic profile. It belongs to the gourd family (like cantaloupe, cucumber and squash). Perhaps most importantly, it also has a very nice flavor profile (subtly sweet and nutty with a malleable, chewy texture). Also of importance, it contains no GMOs. Pumpkin seeds were also part of our ancestors diet. They have a ten thousand plus year history of regular consumption both as a food, a condiment, and for their medicinal properties. Records of its cultivation predate 8500 BC in North America; it was also grown and consumed in Eastern Europe and India. All cultures considered it a superfood and it remains one based upon the modern definition as well.

Plus 85 mg of Phytosterols Pumpkin seeds also contain respectable amounts of: fiber, potassium, pantothenic acid, folate, carotenoids (vitamin A precursors that exhibit a variety of beneficial effects), Vitamin K, and healthy fats (Omega 6s, 3s, & 9s).

Some of the documented health benefits associated with pumpkin seeds: Promotes prostate health: The combination of several key nutrients appears to support the prostate via several different mechanisms including the ability to interrupt cell multiplication (as occurs in BPH). Promotes bone density: The combination of high quality protein plus strong levels of minerals, trace minerals, and phyto-nutrients, makes pumpkin seeds a great addition to anyones bone building diet. For example, magnesium regulates calcium & calcium channels. Anti-Inflammatory Benefits in Arthritis: Studies show that it has comparable anti-inflammatory effects to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug indomethacin without the harmful side effects. Lowers Cholesterol: Phytosterols, found in pumpkin seeds, have a chemical structure very similar to cholesterol. When present in the diet in sufficient amounts they reduce blood levels of cholesterol, enhance the immune system & decrease risk of certain cancers. Immune Enhancement: Shown to enhance the immune response. Anti-Parasitic & Anit-Helminthic (anti-worm): Pumpkin seeds contain the amino acid cucurbitin which is believed to be the most active chemical principle responsible for the anti-helminthic (capable of eliminating worms) activity displayed by pumpkin seeds. This is one of the primary historical medicinal / therapeutic uses of pumpkin seeds. Mood Enhancer: Pumpkin seeds contain a significant amount of Ltryptophan (the precursor to serotonin). It is speculated that regular consumption may enhance mood by boosting tryptophan. Kidney Stone Inhibitor: Based on two clinical trials in Thailand showing reductions in kidney stones, pumpkin seeds appear to reduce both the levels of substances that promote stone formation in the urine and increase levels of substances that inhibit stone formation.

Ive been using Superfood Mix daily for the past 3 years & I love it. It has been instrumental in helping me achieve my health & figure goals. The Mix was developed by a physician (Dr. Max) who modified his earlier superfood formula (circa 1979) to create a super-nutritious, convenient, great -tasting, whole-food alternative to the hospital food available during his medical training. He, and a few friends, wanted to maintain their health & fitness during the rigors imposed by a grueling schedule that left little time to shop & prepare meals (or exercise & sleep for that matter). The result was an early version of The Mix. It allowed them to make delicious smoothies and their own protein / meal replacement bars. The mix was used continuously for the next couple of decades by hundreds of patients, athletes, friends, family & kids; it continued to evolve as new info & ingredients became available.

The Paleo Diet aka The Caveman Diet is having a major resurgence (fueled by the Cross-Fit movement). It is based on eating only those foods that our ancient ancestors ate. Of course no one really knows for sure what cavemen ate; there are no written records. There were also undoubtedly major differences in their diet from tribe to tribe, region to region, season to season, and era to era. What we can assume, however, is that their foods were minimally processed (mostly raw), organic, and wild-harvested vs. farmed. Eating that way dramatically limits many substances that have since become major staples in the modern diet. The Paleo Diet shuns virtually all new / neolithic foods that have been added since the paleolithic era. The rationale is that our species is evolutionarily adapted to that ancient way of eating. As though our genes were frozen in time. Over the millions of years that humanoids have inhabited the planet, countless cultures have existed. Our knowledge of many is quite limited due to few surviving written records. Of those with records, many indicate that certain foods were valued for their superior powers. Such foods have come to be known as superfoods. Should we avoid those superfoods simply because they were not regularly consumed by cavemen? Silly question; thats like saying we should not drive cars because we are not genetically adapted to them. Cavemen did not ride bikes, use telephones, lift weights, or do many things that we take for granted today. We are constantly innovating & evolving. The Paleo Plus Prescription uses the Paleo Diet as its starting point and then adds the major superfood discoveries of the past several millennium, combined with the latest that medical and nutritional science have to offer, to create a program designed for todays highly-stressed, active, health-conscious inhabitants of spaceship Earth. This book is packed with lots of valuable information including sections on: Raw Foods, Vegan vs. Vegetarian vs. Omnivorous Diets, Organic vs. Natural vs. Conventional Foods, Adding Muscle, Losing Fat, Enhancing Performance, and lots more about Superfoods.

72 yrs & going strong!

I am loving the Super Food Mix product. As a 40-year-old athlete I started using it over a year ago. I have it at least twice a day. My strength, race speed, endurance, health, digestion and immune system have improved dramatically. This past season was my best to date, I had several new personal records, 13 place wins, one masters win and 5 races as a top ten over all finisher. My health is the best it has ever been. Also, I am a father of 3 beautiful daughters, (2, 9, 13 years in age) and they all love superfood mix too. When I feel a cold coming on, as is inevitable with 3 daughters, I double up on my Super Food Mix and usually my cold would be gone in under a day, sometimes a few hours later. When I eat Super Food Mix I feel great and my body is happy. Super Food Mix is the ultimate feel good food. I give so much thanks to Super Food Mix for their excellent product.
