MATH 074B - Applied Mathematics: Word Problems - Units 0.5-3 Prerequisites: MATH-074A Applied Mathematics: Whole Number Computational Skills with a grade of "PASS". This course is designed to provide the prerequisite mathematics competencies necessary for success in vocational and/or professional programs. Specifically, this course covers whole number problem solving using analytical and critical thinking strategies. This a variable unit course that may be taken for up to three (3) units. Based on speed of mastery, the student may qualify to exit before the end of the semester. Completion of MATH 074A-D is equivalent to Math Level II. Units earned in this course do not count toward the associate degree. Salt Lake City Community College:

CHEM 1118 Elementary Chemistry Problem Session 1 cr. Problem session for CHEM 1110. Though not required, students are strongly encouraged to register for this session. CHEM 1218 General Chemistry Problem Session I 1 cr. Problem session for CHEM 1210. Though not required, students are strongly encouraged to register for this session EBT 1210 Creativity and Problem Solving 2 cr. This course teaches highly valuable tools for finding creative solutions to any problem. The tools learned help students and working professionals be more innovative and confident in meeting lifes challenges. Suffolk CC HUM120 E / 3 cr. hrs. Effective Thinking: Problem Solving, Reasoning And Comprehension Studies mental processes associated with sequential analytical thought. Focus of first part of course is thoughtful introspection. Classroom and text activities entailing verbal reasoning, analogical relationships, predicating patterns, and creative problem solving develop insight and understanding of ones own thought processes. Second part of course encourages thoughtful involvement with current controversy. Students learn analytical skills necessary for evaluation of controversial ideas presented from various perspectives in contemporary writing using journal articles, newspaper and magazine articles, editorials and essays. No prerequisite. MAT116 A / 4 cr. hrs. Mathematical Problem Sol ving Honors course for motivated students who want to explore a problem-solving approach to mathematics. Through individual and group collaboration, students will explore at least 15 different mathematical problem-solving strategies over various mathematical content areas (including geometry, algebra, logic, number theory, and discrete mathematics. Prerequisite: MAT111 B or higher. ENG101 B+ or higher. Note: Fulfills SUNY General Education Requirement for Mathematics. Macomb Community College: QUAL2451 Applied Problem Solving & Design of Experiments 2.00 credit hours Prerequisite: QUAL1030 or consent of advisor (formerly QUAL2450) To be successful in this course, it is strongly recommended that the student have some knowledge of math.

With an emphasis on application rather than theory, this course uses mathematics, probability, and statistics. The course explores the foundations of Design Of Experiments(DOE), including factorial and fraction designed experiments and data analysis, and applies them to problem solving techniques for both manufacturing and service industries. The course covers planning/development the experiment, test errors, the ANOVA table, regression modeling, and variance reductions and explores Taguchi Orthogonal Arrays and Methods.
