About This Release

This Readme file describes the defects fixed in Hyperion Financial Management 9.3.3.0.00 as well as the necessary instructions for installing this release.

Release Type
This maintenance release is cumulative and incorporates all service fixes to the 9.3.1 release. This maintenance release replaces files in the existing installation, and does not require a full installation.

Supported Installation Paths

The supported installation path for Release 9.3.3 is from Release 9.3.1 and subsequent service fixes and packs only.

Supported Languages
Release 9.3.3 is English only.

Release Compatibility
For most deployment scenarios, Release 9.3.3 is interoperable only with other Release 9.3.3 products. This means that you must upgrade all products in your environment to Release 9.3.3. However, note these exceptions: If you are using Performance Management Architect 9.3.1.x, you must upgrade Performance Management Architect to Release 11.1.1.3. In addition, if you are upgrading to Release 9.3.3 in order to integrate with EPM System Financial Close Management Release 11.1.2 and/or EPM System Disclosure Management Release 11.1.2, some additional releases are compatible. For more information, see the Hyperion Installation Start Here chapter, "Using Release 9.3.3 Product With Components From Later Releases" and "Release Compatibility". Hyperion Application Link (HAL) Adapter

The Hyperion Application Link (HAL) adapter is included in this release. If you use HAL, you must reinstall the adapter according to the HAL instructions, using the new HAL adapter executable provided. Top of Document

Known Issues in Release 9.3.3.0.00

The following issues are the noteworthy known issues of this release:

Installation
If you use the Manage Equity Pickup feature of Financial Management, before you install Financial Management 9.3.3, you must install the Financial Management 9.3.1.3 patch. After you install the 9.3.1.3 patch, check that the following files are installed in the Ownership Management folder to enable you to use the Manage Equity Pickup feature: Drive

If you have previously installed Hyperion Essbase Server 9.3.3 on the same machine on which you are installing Financial Management 9.3.3, you may receive a Permission denied error due to some of the common files installed by both products being set to read-only mode. Before you apply the patch, execute the following steps to ensure that these files are not in read-only mode. (9477273) Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the the properties for that folder: folder and right click to bring up

1. Uncheck the Read Only checkbox. 2. Click on the Apply button. 3. Select the option to Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files.

Intercompany Reports
When you run several Intercompany reports, the process may be slow and you may receive a white screen. If this occurs, you can add a Windows registry setting to increase the number of concurrent threads allowed, which increases the number of reports that you can run simultaneously. To increase the number of concurrent threads: 1. Select Start, then Run, then in the Open box, type regedt32 and click OK.

2. Navigate to 3. Create the DWORD NumAsyncThreads and set a value which is the number of concurrent threads that you want to support. The recommended value is two times the number of CPUs on the Web server.

Microsoft SQL Server Databases

Financial Management does not support case-sensitive collation on the database instance (Defect 10401373)

Restricted Characters
For Financial Management text boxes in which you enter text, it is recommended that you avoid using text strings such as vbscript, vbx, javascript, jscript, <script> <textarea> and <pre>, and strings such as <X on X=X> where X=anystring.

Security
If you encounter an issue related to IIS Chunked Encoding Overflow, you need to verify the version of the Web Server for Financial Management and apply the corresponding security patch that Microsoft has provided to address those issues. (9278929)

Documentation
When opening HTML documentation or HTML Help in Firefox 3.5.9 or later, or in Internet Explorer 8.0 or later, you may experience some display or navigational anomalies, including images not loading. This does not affect the integrity of the application content. The Financial Management 9.3.1 Administrators Guide, Managing Data Forms section, contains examples of styles that do not display correctly in Firefox browsers. If you experience issues using these style examples, modify the shorthand font property to include the font-size and font-family. Top of Document

Installing Release 9.3.3.0.00

The section includes important information about installing this release. Note: HFM 9.3.1.0, HFM 9.3.1.1, HFM 9.3.1.2, HFM 9.3.1.3, or HFM 9.3.1.4 should already be installed on all HFM Application Servers and all HFM Web Servers. To install the 9.3.3.0.00 patch: 1. Setting Up Email Alerting with the SMTP Server

If you want to use the SMTP email alerting capability, and you are using an SMTP server that requires authentication, use this procedure: 1. Ensure all HFM Services are stopped. 2. Stop IIS. 3. Register the Mailer.dll using the following command:

Create the following registry variables, under : Note: If you are not using an SMTP server that requires authentication, do not create these variables. Working with Financial Close Management

This release integrates with Oracle Hyperion Financial Close Management. Financial Close Management helps companies define, execute, and report on the interdependent activities of a financial close period. Financial Management provides Integration Types for use with Financial Close Management. The XML file, contains all of the Integration Types and definitions associated with Financial Management.
