FIRST EUCHARIST
Thank you to all involved in preparing the children for First Eucharist. It is important that we, especially the parents, continue to support the children in modelling the Christian life for them. Id like to remind the parents of the commitment they made at the beginning of their childs formal preparation: Fr John: Will you (the parents) continue to nourish your own faith by regularly hearing and reflecting on the Word of God, receiving his Body & Blood and living our the values of the Gospel? Parents: We will Pastoral Letter: The Bishops of Victoria, together with the Leaders of Catholic Religious Victoria, have issued a Pastoral Letter about the Parliamentary Inquiry into the handling of child abuse by religious and other non-government organisations. In the letter the Church Leaders state that they respect the parliamentary process and will co-operate fully with the Inquiry. The letter includes a Prayer for Healing which can be used for individual or group prayer. Copies available this weekend (Gathering Space). Migrant & Refugee Sunday (2nd September): This is a time when we celebrate the cultural diversity of our nation. Pope Benedict emphasises the need to nourish the faith of new migrants who are deprived of the cultural support from their country of origin. You are invited to bring memorabilia of the country of your birth to display over that weekend. Please bring food to share following the 10.30am Mass - this may include a special dish from your own country. St Josephs Pipe Organ Scholarship 2013: Applications are now invited from those who would like to further their musical skills and contribute to our liturgies. Application forms & further information are available in the Parish Office. Closing date 30th November 2012. Balancing the Extremes by Gabrielle Leslie: An inspiring book on living with mental health issues is available for loan in the Parish Office. Mercy Place: Stage 2 Development at Mercy Place begins officially this Tuesday with a sod turning ceremony by Bishop Peter Connors at 11.00am An Invitation: Would you like to be involved in the life of the Parish? A list of ministries is available in the Gathering Space. This is an opportunity especially for families connected with 1st Communion to become involved.
