Harshit singh Sisodia1 Gambling & Betting:Chapter XX, Book III of Arthashastra deals with most dreadful issue of Gambling and betting and other miscellaneous offences. Kautilya imposed many amercements and penalties in order to get hold of illegitimate things. Kautiliya was justified with some of his laws, but on the same hand some of his laws were dubious. Kautilya was not vindicated on his move of punishing Vanquished with double the fine that of winner, ergo being biased. Miscellaneous Offences:Certain laws of Kautilya are not acceptable, such as: 1. Fine of 12 Panas for sitting under shade for more than one and a quarter of an hour. It is not any criminal act which is worth for any punishment. If someone is too tired to take rest which may exceed the prescribed time limit, then there is no harm in that. It doesnt constitutes for Criminal or Civil wrong.

And in family, one has right to stop the other person if someone is doing wrong. Only the family relations care about the rights and wrongs because of the love and affection attached with relation. 5. The rates of fine shall vary in accordance with the rank of personsWell, this policy is a sheer instance of biasness and violates right to equality clause. Each and every one should be treated equal before law. Equality promotes an healthy environment in society. It weakens discrimination.
