General information windows and doors

Sizes This catalogue contains all Stegbars standard sizes for windows and doors. These are the ones that we make every day. They are performance rated and will be delivered in an advised lead time. They are sized to fit standard brick openings. Should you require one of our standard windows in a special size, its not a problem. Well work with you to ensure that the size you want maintains its rating performance, and can be delivered when you need it. Cedar Due to the natural colour variation in cedar, we cannot guarantee colour matching of timber components. Aluminium sections, including insect screens, locks, handles, winders and other hardware are finished in mahogany bronze powder coat as standard, except in Queensland where coffee powder coat is standard. Aluminium Available in a range of standard and custom colours. Black coloured locks, handles, winders and other hardware are fitted as standard. (Other colours are available). A.T. 2000 Series Black coloured locks, handles, winders and other hardware are fitted as standard. (Other colours are available). Other Aluminium cover plates (flashings) and aluminium angles are not supplied as standard, but are available on request. All Stegbar windows and doors shown in this Standard Sizes catalogue have been designed and glazed in accordance with relevant Australian Standards AS2047, AS1288 and AS2208 and conform to AS4055 for wind loads. The handing (which sash operates) can be reversed from what is shown in this catalogue. Glazing bars Colonial and Federation bar layouts are shown and other configurations are available on request. Insect screens Aluminium framed insect and safety screens are available in a standard range of colours to match aluminium and A.T. 2000 Series windows and doors. Cedar framed insect screens are supplied raw, ready for final sanding and finishing. Window and door codes All Stegbar codes for windows and doors follow a consistent format. The letters explain the type of material (the first letter) and the style of the window or door (the last two letters). And the numbers specify the height (the first two digits) and width (the last two digits). For example a CSW1314 is a Cedar Sliding Window which has a frame size of 1370mm high by 1450mm wide.

Example 2L2R after a bi-fold code indicates that its four panels, 2 open to the left and 2 open to the right (as seen from the outside). Example SR after an entry unit code indicates that the sidelite is on the right of the door (as seen from the outside). Example 3 after a sliding door code indicates that the sliding door has 3 panels.

Measuring window and door frames

Standard Stegbar frame sizes match brick opening sizes. For all window and door materials the frame is measured on where it sits in the brick opening, as displayed in the illustrations below. Reveal thickness is not included in the frame size of revealed aluminium products. But the stud opening is bigger for revealed aluminium as indicated in the size charts.

STUD OPENING

Bay window general information

Stegbar bay windows can be configured in cedar, aluminium or A.T. 2000 Series, using any of our standard window sizes. Our standard bay window is configured with a front that is parallel to the house and side wings at 135, though we can also do 90 and custom angles. A bay window can be constructed from many combinations of standard Stegbar windows. The most popular feature fixed panels combined with either awning, casement or double hung windows. Positioning of the operable windows will depend on your circumstances and functional requirements. Please ask your sales consultant about our bay window options.

Curves, rakes and geometric shapes

Stegbar curved windows are available as full, half and quarter circles, and as ellipses with and without upstands, in cedar, aluminium and A.T. 2000 Series. Raked windows are available with two or three parallel/ perpendicular sides. With a variety of geometric shapes also available the opportunity for you to create your own unique design is almost limitless. No matter which one you choose curve, rake or geometric shape they can be used as a free standing window to create a unique visual element or to complement the building design, or they can be attached to one of our standard windows to create an arched hi-lite. As configurations, building-in details, frame material type and the glass thickness all have an impact on the size limitations for curved, raked and shaped windows, a Stegbar sales consultant will help you choose the right shape in the right size so that you can rest easy with a window that will provide you with the performance and the look you require.

Door frames standard sizes

Door frames and entry units are sized to fit a standard 2040mm highx820mm wide door opening and may not always suit standard brick openings. Aluminium or A.T. 2000 Series frames and doors which cannot be trimmed should be fitted to the finished floor. An asterisk (*) indicates that the frame will fit an industry standard 400mm wide sidelite. To calculate the required stud opening size for revealed aluminium add 38mm to frame height and 56mm to frame width. To calculate the required stud opening size for cedar, aluminium and A.T. 2000 Series add 20mm to frame height and 20mm to frame width. Flat sill is also available on request for aluminium doors. The flat sill incorporates the sub sill as standard.

Internal bi-fold door standard sizes

Stegbar internal bi-fold doors have a low profile head track for use when space is tight. Use for wardrobes, laundry or between rooms. 4 leaf internal bi-fold doors open in the middle and the doors stack to both jambs (2 each way). Internal bi-fold doors are available in two standard opening heights, 2078mm and 2378mm.

Internal room dividers standard sizes

Stegbar internal room dividers are available for standard frame heights of 2100mm and 2400mm, and must use an even number of door leaves. Frame height and width are finished opening sizes. Jambs are not supplied. Leaves can fold all to one side or a combination of pairs of leaves can be split to either side. See the Stegbar Timber Doors catalogue for details on the leaf styles available. The chart indicates the standard door leaf widths available and the corresponsing frame width depending on the number of leaves used.
