In our recent poll of likely voters in Floridas 26th Congressional District, Joe Garcia holds a significant lead and is well positioned for victory in November, potentially giving the Democrats a pick up. Garcia leads by 9% and receives the majority of Independent votes Voters prefer Joe Garcia over David Rivera by 9%, 49% to 40%, with 11% undecided. Garcia is doing better among his base than Rivera: Garcia receives 87% of the vote among Registered Democrats, while 78% of Republicans support Rivera. Among Independents, Garcia leads by 27% (53% Garcia, 26% Rivera, 21% undecided). If the November 2012 election for Congress were held today and the candidates were just for whom would you vote? FL CD-26 August 2012 Poll

The Benenson Strategy Group conducted 400 interviews in Floridas 26th Congressional District with likely general election voters August 20-22, 2012. Respondents were given the option of completing the poll in either English or Spanish. The margin of error for overall results is 4.88%. BSGs clients include Governor Tim Kaine (VA), Congresswoman Mazie Hirono (HI), Congressman Adam Smith (WA), and Congressman Tim Walz (MN). Peter Brodnitz, who conducted this survey, was named Pollster of the Year by the American Association of Political Consultants in 2007 for his work turning Virginia from Red to Purple.
