The term sustainable development has become a clich that can be used by anyone in any context to support any desired objective. Originally invented to mean a particular pattern of resource use based on the principles of conservation, preservation, and equity, it offered ingenious solutions to a variety of the problems facing the humankind.

Sub-themes
By its very nature, the conference theme is multidisciplinary and cross-sectorial. Hence, meaningful debates on it cannot be achieved without involving a diverse set of ideas and stakeholders. Some of the indicative themes of this conference would be:

Dominant debates on sustainable development tend to overlook the vital role entrepreneurs can play in our move to a more sustainable future. However, some recent studies indicate that entrepreneurial action has the potential to nurture or destroy ecological wellbeing. The proposed conference will revisit sustainable development to better understand the state of this knowledge field in entrepreneurial theory and practice.
