A remote agent is a BMC ProactiveNet agent that is installed on a computer other than the BMC ProactiveNet server. The remote agents should be installed on each network element in the enterprise that you want to monitor. They collect device-specific data such as CPU usage, memory usage, and other data specific to the host operating system. This enables the BMC ProactiveNet Server to remotely gather statistical data on all supported operating systems.

BMC Portal
BMC Portal provides a common Web-based interface for the BMC Performance Manager Portal and BMC Impact Portal software modules. BMC Performance Manager Portal extends the features of the BMC Portal by providing real time monitoring and management functions of agentless and BMC PATROL agent-based systems. BMC Impact Portal provides views of business services and shows how the status of these services is impacted when infrastructure components have problems. BMC ProactiveNet can be configured to synchronize this data to monitor the IT devices effectively.

The BMC Triage and Remediation Solution comprises BMC Atrium Orchestrator and BMC ITSM. The BMC Triage and Remediation solution helps improve service delivery by improving the operational efficiency of IT operations. This solution prevents time spent by the IT operations staff doing mundane, labor-intensive, repetitive tasks. This solution is an automated coordination of other configuration management processes such as incident management and problem management. IBRSD integration involves integrating real-time IT and service information with the help desk to automatically create intelligent incidents that enable help desk users to prioritize incidents based on the impact to the business. It defines and manages critical relationships between IT assets and business services, and quickly determines the impact of an IT problem on various business services and user groups.

BMC ProactiveNet Application Diagnostics pinpoints, captures, and communicates the root cause of application problems for a specific transaction, without the need to recreate the problem or replicate its environment in a lab. IT operations and application support staff can isolate the problems and route them to the appropriate domain expert for rapid resolution. BMC ProactiveNet Application Diagnostics agents are lightweight software agents deployed on Java EE or .NET application servers. Their primary role is gathering diagnostic data on application transaction performance, execution, and errors. These agents are based on the BMC AppSight Black Box patented technology and provide deep application diagnostics for inclusion in application root cause analysis.
