Lesson Plan Arts 6 The lesson plan Art.

. VI class of primary school (2 x 45 minutes) The lessons took place on 17th and 19th October 2011. They were connected with preparing the map of village amenities as a one of the aims of the project Doing Our Bit. Pupils explored the nearest area and gained the knowledge how to better protect the nature. Topic: My area landscapes oddity. Main educational objectives: Pupils make folders advertising their locality Lesson stages 1. Preparing to the lesson. Welcoming, giving and explaining the aim and the activities of the lesson. The project is realized by seven groups, which deal with proplems from given instructions. In each group there should be chosen a leader who arranges group members activities. Pupils prepare solving of all problems during the first lesson or before it. At the second lesson all groups together create one folder. 2. Problems to deal with for each group: a) the nature group dealing with nature environment (the landform, rivers, plants) - what rocks there are in your locality - describe the landscape - name surface water - what plants there are in your locality, name plant species and describe animal world b) historical group: - what historical events are connected with your area - name more important monumetns and objects - what historical characters are connected with your locality c) ecological group: - estimate the ecological condition of the environment in your locality - name monuments of animated and inanimate nature - point examples of human negative activity in your locality (for example: illegal rubbish dumps) - point examples of positive human activity in your locality d) tourist group: - Is there any tourist route going through your locality? If so, describe it, if not give your own proposals. - describe other tourist attractions in your locality, for example objects with interesting architecture e) media group: - make bibliography of: maps, atlases, tourist guides, keys to recognizing plants and animals, regional magazines, albums connected with your locality - take photos of your locality landscapes oddities according to the list made by each group

Lesson Plan Arts 6 choose the most interesting photos, which will be put in the folder. Your choice should depend on historical, nature, ecological and tourist contents

f) ethnografic group: - interview the oldest inhabitants according to the topic of local traditions, customs and changes that have been made in your locality from the most ancient years till present - propose: a poem, a part of the book, a skit, a song (one of these) that could be put in the folder g) art group - propose artwork for the folder: the cover, the title page, photos, drawings - create a poster on ecological topic - propose different graphic forms (photos, diagrams, sketches, drawings) of your locality known landscapes oddities - prepare descriptions of photos, illustrations connected with these oddities 3. Pupils should use in their work: - their locality or region tourist guides - maps - catalogues - nature, historical and tourist magazines - keys to recognizing plants and animals - albums about the region - interviews with inhabitants, different subjects teachers - city map - photos, drawings - multimedia cyclopedias 4. After gathering all information groups present the results of work own folder pages. All pages are joined together. There is also put the title page and the cover. The folder will be copied several times to let all students see it. 5. The teacher gives marks the most active pupils. Ending of the lesson, short discussion about the lesson, assesment of the pupils skills.
