March 21, 2012 To: The Membership From: Veronica Session Re: Contract and other Concerns Dear

Members; These are my thoughts on some current issues that have come to my attention that I believe the members should be very concerned about. Some may more directly concern the contract and others are of great general concern that members should be aware of. Pardon the structural, grammatical type errors and items I may have left out. - I heard our Optical and Dental benefits will be rescinded about May 2012. We are CARPENTERS vision health is critical to our being able to work, be safe while walking, cutting and performing necessary task on jobsites or otherwise and have longevity to retire with benefits. This should not happen. Dental benefits are also crucial to our health. It has a direct effect on heart health in particular. Any Doctor can attest to this. Lack of dental health benefits will detoriate our overall medical wellbeing. And as with everything the non-company people will be most adversely affected. - Delegates. I believe the delegates votes should be public for the members. It is the only way that we can trust that the Delegates are doing as the membership request. We certainly know in the past that some have not had our best interest in minds. We must have transparency in all areas.

I also believe that any Delegate or Officer who knowingly works to the opposition or detriment of the members be fired, loose their pension, along with any other appropriate charges. - Full mobility. I am strongly against it. Firstly there will never be enough oversight. Further when Denis Walsh and those entities that are intervening now are gone we absolutely know now what will happen. We are a union that is supposed to look out for ALL its members. The members should have a somewhat fair chance at work and career. We should have a true 50/50 and not even the present 67/33. It is grossly unfair to the members. We all pay our union dues. We have had decades of corruption, and this is not the time to give the contractors or corrupt persons more room to hang us. We already know that years down the road we will see the devastating effect of what we will know was inevitable. And what we will experience from day one if this happens. - Furlough. To further equal treatment of members, and that we are able to get unemployment there should be a rotating furlough system set up. - Apprentices must be trained on the job, as the DOL and contracts states. Documentation as such must be made weekly. Contractors must be made to fulfill their obligation, in this and all respects Union Apathy. We must restore union pride, faith, hope and energy to membership by valuing them. Our experience, input and wishes must be highly regarded. And we must

see evidence of a strong unyielding effort to fight corruption and equality for all its members. - - Contracts. Officers/ Delegates etc. must fervently enforce our contract. Helper/Scraper. This is an apprentices job. There is no need for this classification, it will only serve as a manipulation the contractors will use to undermine, confuse and play games with. Transparency. No matter the contract, rather current or new, members must know the penaltys for contractors violating the contract beforehand. And when a contractor does violate the contract the penalties must be public information for the members. Penaltys must be very substantial, in order to not be their cost of doing business.
