Service modules
In order to give you the support you require, a modular service approach has been chosen. The Plant Support CenterTM portfolio offers you different basic as well as specialised service modules. Those can be provided individually or combined. Our two basic modules are described in more detail hereafter. 24/7 OPerATiON SUPPOrT Service In the Plant Support CenterTM, experienced Service Engineers are available around-the-clock to provide fast and competent operational support for keeping your plant running or get it back online as fast as possible. Additionally, the PSC staff will provide you support for the root cause analysis and recommendations for longer-term continuous plant improvement as well as recommendations for planned maintenance. With this information you are able to optimise scheduling of downtime, labour and materials. MONiTOriNG AND DiAGNOSTic ServiceS The Plant Support CenterTM also provides monitoring and diagnostic services to assist your decision-making processes in order to operate your plants more efficiently and costeffectively. Specialised experts monitor incoming plant data with the help of advanced Alstom-proprietary diagnostic programs. The data received from the plant is stored in a secure data processing system for automated analysis and diagnosis.

The programs are based on Alstoms unique Original Equipment Manufacturer know-how. Large amounts of data are scanned automatically for emerging trends of equipment problems or sub-optimal performance. In case such deviations are detected, PSC personnel are notified for an assessment immediately. Afterwards the plant operator is informed of the PSC recommendation in accordance with the specific agreement. Daily updated reports with trends of the main performance and health parameters for the last 12 months are available to the operator on the Alstom Service Internet. This report can be used as a basis to benchmark the plant to the rest of the fleet or gives you indications where to improve plant availability and reliability while reducing maintenance costs. With this pro-active monitoring service, the Plant Support CenterTM reduces operational risks and optimises plant performance and helps you therefore to gain an edge over your competition.

GT13DM turbine upgrade key features

Operational for all plants equipped with Alstom gas turbines

BUiLDiNG ON ALSTOM TecHNOLOGY The services provided by the PSC rely on data collected by the Alstom monitoring and diagnostic (M&D) system. High speed data is collected on the plant by the fast controller data recorder (DEPP2000). The 24/7 operational support can remotely access the data through a secure virtual private network connection, to support troubleshooting requests. In case of M&D services, a data extract file is sent once a day to the PSC, where analytical programs identify trends and analyse the data for deviations of the expected condition. This data transfer can be done from the DEPP2000 or from a plant platform. In the latter case, it becomes possible to extend the plant installation with specialised modules that monitor specific plant components. The Plant Support CenterTM is operational for all power plants equipped with Alstom gas turbines. However, a full 24/7 coverage is currently provided for GT24, GT26, GT13E2 and GT11N2 based power plants only. At present more than 60 power plants are connected to the PSC and benefit from our remote support services.

CASE STUDIES

reduced down-time - faster return to operation

iNTerNAL Air LeAKAGe The operator of an Alstom plant contacted the Plant Support CenterTM due to an increase in one of the temperatures measured after the compressor. The increase was assessed by the PSC engineers. Results showed that it was caused most likely by an internal air leakage. After a boroscopic inspection had confirmed the suspected internal air leakage, the damaged connection was repaired. With the support of our specialists, a complete opening of the engine could be avoided; the downtime was reduced by more than two weeks.

Early warning notification saving maintenance cost

PULSATiON PrOBe fAiLUre A broken probe header influenced the combustor pulsation reading: This led to fluctuating pulsation readings, which increased with time (see figure below). The early warning system identified the deviation from normal operation days before the operator would have been warned by the protection system. The early detection of the increased signal allowed the analysis of the pulsation frequency spectrum, which showed the typical low frequency for probe malfunction. Based on this information, plant operation was continued until a shut down was scheduled for the weekend, when the probe and cables were replaced. The additional information about the plants status allowed the operator to take action before the protective system was enabled. Not only alarm but also partial load shedding (PLS) could thus be avoided, which would have resulted in EOH consumption. Therefore maintenance cost was saved.
