Topic- Debacle of Indian Cricket Team in England

The Audience
The article will be printed in a well known newspaper or in a weekly sports magazine. Thus the primary audience would be sports enthusiasts, especially those who follow the game of cricket very closely and are continuously evaluating and keeping themselves updated about the performance of the Indian cricket team. Or, perhaps a person in the field of science who is studying some sort of phenomena or even the physics behind certain sports. The secondary audience would be those who are a part of the committees and board of cricket. For example the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and other state cricket associations like the Rajasthan cricket association or the Punjab Cricket association. Followers of other sports in general could also be the secondary audience that could be targeted through this article.

The Purpose
The purpose of the article would be to inform readers and other audiences regarding issues and problems that the Indian Cricket is facing at the moment. The article would highlight the possible reasons behind the debacle of Indian cricket on their tour of England. It would throw light on topics that have to be brought to the notice of millions fans back home and raise questions as to who is the real culprit for putting such a dismal performance forward and bringing national shame. Writers like they have written in the past, would rush to write articles, many more programs would be done, fans will continue to moan, and the sun would continue to rise, erasing the previous day. Time would pass and the weeks would go on and soon there would be another game where people would be all geared up and will stand in long queues to

buy tickets and loyal fans would find something else to cheer about, but no one would actually try and go to the grass root level to find out what exactly is the problem. This report would aim to bring to notice critical issues that have to be brought to the table and dealt with seriously.

Pattern of organization
Since this article would be descriptive, informative and controversial a combination of different patterns of organization would be suited to the content of the writing. Time would be the most significant way of organizing this article. In the past cricket was not commercialized at all. Even test matches attracted crowds to such an extent that stadiums were packed to its capacity for all the five days. Presently, events like the Indian Premier League and the Champions league have commercialized the sports to such an extent that playing for the nation is no longer a priority. If things continue to shape up like this, then in the future the game would be driven by monetary factors rather than the passion of the sport. The perspective pattern of organization can also be used to organize the article. One has to agree that Indian cricket is in a bad shape currently. One way to look at it is poor management of players injury. Another way to look at this situation is that the team has been underprepared and lacks sufficient match practice. Finally, BCCI has got a major hand in the miserable show that the players have put up. The BCCI did not put any thought behind scheduling international tours and gave players hardly anytime between two successive tournaments. Thus the above two patterns can be used to organize the article.

Outline of the report

The Loss
This part would highlight the humiliating loss that the Indian Team has suffered that lead them to be dethroned from the No. 1 ranking. It would talk about what were the expectations from this series, the hype that was created before the series started and how a chance to prove its potential greatness turned into a surrender or sorts.

The culprits
Here, the role of BCCI in the teams performance would be highlighted. Various factors that a board should consider keeping their players fitness and the interest of the sport will be

mentioned. What decisions BCCI has been taking and strategies adopted by them to manage players and tournaments would be written. This part would essentially bring out the flaws in BCCIs operation and their inefficiency in handling affairs related to the team.

Examples: Unlearnt lessons

Previous instances of Australian (2007-2008) and South African (2010) series can be illustrated to show how lack of match practice can affect the teams performance. The fact that BCCI has not learnt from their past mistakes and lost the opportunity to win the above mentioned series would be mentioned more elaborately.

Remedial measures
The article would suggest some corrective measures that the BCCI could take to improve the teams performance. The article would propose strategies elaborately and present ideas

extensively so that the BCCI could adopt them to ensure that a large pool of players are created, teach BCCI how to build a better domestic platform and plan the international tour program effectively.

Conclusions
This tour, in many ways has put Indian Cricket in much needed perspective with the harshest possible dose of reality check. Its definitely not a time to panic, but introspect. Its the time to question and review. Thus, this article might just give Indian Cricket a brand new direction.
