Feeder routes and coordinated schedules were developed using Genetic Algorithms Name of Assignment: Modeling for co-ordinated bus route network for sub-urban railway corridor at Andheri and Vileparle railway stations on western railway corridor in Mumbai, India.

Year: July 1997 to August 2000 Location: Mumbai Client: IIT Mumbai, India Main Project Features: Position held: Traffic and Transportation Research Scholar

Activities Performed: Collection of relevant data by traffic surveys and interviews Development of feeder routes for suburban railway station Development of Coordinated schedules for feeder buses for the given schedules of suburban trains so as to reduce waiting time and transfer time of passengers. Optimization of fleet size of buses Name of Assignment: Developing a simulation model for Beach Tambaram railway line at Chennai, India Year: June 1992 to January 1993 Location: Chennai, India Client: IIT Madras, Chennai Main Project Features: Identification of optimum frequencies and capacities of trains so that waiting time of commuters is minimum Position held: Traffic and Transportation research staff Activities Performed: Responsible for developing a simulation model for Beach Tambaram railway line at Chennai, India. In this project boarding and alighting data of suburban trains was collected by traffic surveys. Extensive traffic surveys were conducted at railway stations and data was collected. Data related to arrival pattern of commuters was collected with the help of by carrying out surveys at railway platforms. Simulation model was validated by boarding - alighting pattern and waiting time at railway stations. Effect on waiting time was studied by changing capacity of trains and by changing schedule of trains. An attempt was made to find optimum schedule of trains using this exercise Other academic research conducted 1. Optimal signal design at shoppers stop signal at Andheri (w), Mumbai, India, 1994-95. 2.
