EdgeTherm THM 3000 hot-melt buytl insulating glass sealant is a one-component, 100% solids sealant system specifically developed for edge sealing insulating glass units. Sealant exhibits the best properties of hot-melt butyl systems, no mixing, minimal waste, fast setting, quick handling of finished IG units, and outstanding adhesion to glass and metal substrates typically used in IG fabrication.
Basic Use EdgeTherm THM 3000 is ideally suited for in-house sealing of insulating glass units for residential windows, where glazing material and practices are easily controlled. Colors EdgeTherm THM 3000 is available in Black and Gray. Packaging & Sizes Available in bricks, pails, and drums. Bricks: 5.5 lbs (2.5 kg); 8 bricks per case Pails: 5 gallon pails (4 gallon fill / 15.1 liters) Drums: 55 gallon steel drum (47.5 gallon fill / 179.8 liters) Shelf Life Two years from date of manufacture when stored at or below 70 F (21 C). Glazing Compatibility and Design Recommendations In general, materials such as hot-applied sealants, silicones, glazing tapes and solvent acrylics are compatible. Refer to Technical Bulletin SG003 at www.Quanex.com for a list of approved glazing materials or inquire about compatibility testing. Fabricated units shall be glazed in accordance with GANA (Glass Association of North America) and IGMA (Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance) recommendations. Please check with your Quanex Representative for specific glazing recommendations. NOTE: Contact between THM 3000 edge seal and any solvent containing oil should be avoided. Health & Safety EdgeTherm THM 3000 at typical application/use temperatures will cause thermal burns of skin and eyes. In case of contact, immediately cool burn areas with cold packs and cold water.
