discover freedom Heavy, lead x-ray shield aprons may someday be a thing of the past. Shruti Nambiar, a System design engineering Phd student, is developing a new material that combines flexible polymer and nanoparticles. the goal? to create a non-toxic, lighter shield to be worn by patients and clinical personnel when working around harmful x-rays. She says she wouldnt be nearly so far along in her research without her enthusiastic supervisors, other helpful students and waterloos culture of discovery through collaboration.
